In Wagner's Footsteps
Tweekums28 July 2018
These comments refer to the whole two part story, not just episode two.

After the tragic conclusion to the previous story this opens with Wagner's funeral. As Dicte walks away after the service she is approached by a young girl who tells her that Wagner was unofficially investigating the disappearance of her mother. Dicte determines that she will take on the case.

The woman was last seen at a party at her sister's house, only a short walk from her home. She had argued with her husband and he and the children had left the party early. He is adamant that he didn't hear her return home. Most members of the local community suspect that he probably killed her as she had a reputation for being somewhat promiscuous. To help her with the investigation Dicte teams up with Wagner's ex-wife who has recently returned to the Danish police after some years abroad. Away from the case Dicte and Bo's marriage is becoming very strained as Bo keeps pulling away from her and refusing to talk about what happened in Syria.

This was a solid story with an interesting mystery as well as impressive character development for several characters. So often when a character is killed off in a series made up of individual stories they are quickly forgotten but this case means Wagner isn't forgotten. The way Wagner's ex becomes Dicte's new 'friend in the police' was effective; presumably she will become a regular character. While the mystery of the missing woman was the centre of the story Dicte and Bo's personal issues were just as interesting; especially how Bo is trying to deal with events. First by paying back those who paid his ransom but also dealing with the feeling of guilt regarding a colleague who died during their escape attempt. Overall another fine episode.

So Much Guilt
Hitchcoc14 October 2017
I'm going to ignore the results of the case. It is well crafted and I'm afraid I figured out who did it well ahead of the conclusion. The more interesting aspect of this episode concerns what Bo did when he was in Syria. There is a picture of him, running down the street. Because he is so beset by guilt, we are led to believe that he has done something really bad. He has lied to everyone, and his lies are hard to pick apart. When he lies to the wife of the man who died while he lived, saying he was shot in the back, she tells him she has checked the autopsy report and he is lying. He is falling apart. Dicte realizes he is damaged goods.
