Helen is doing what the Manchester police force are not doing, investigating Paul's death. She finds out that Paul was working undercover investigating bent coppers. Paul standing at a bus stop was no accident and someone else close to her might he involved in his death.
Meanwhile the hoodlums thought to be responsible for his death are themselves being killed. Linnell seems to be responsible, he makes a cryptic remark to Helen, she finds out that Paul was due to marry his daughter once upon a time hence their close friendship. Linnell is not going to leave his death go unpunished.
This was a more interesting and bleaker episode than the first one. Linnell was certainly an intriguing character who pepped the episode up a bit.
