Half-Life: Uplink is a surprisingly well-crafted demo of Half-Life. Unlike most game demos, Uplink is an entirely original chapter of Half-Life, based on a cut portion of the original game. Uplink does a good job of introducing the world of Half-Life and while its combat portions aren't exactly difficult, they're not a walk in the park either, they're quite solid and fun. An interesting aspect of Uplink is its oddly darker tone which may take you off guard if you're familiar with original Half-Life. For a free demo, Valve certainly decided to overachieve with it, Half-Life: Uplink may be a very short experience but in my opinion, it's one that all HL fans and newcomers should try.
