- Bjorn and the other 'Viking bodyguards' accompany Euphemius to his Muslim overlord in North Africa, Ziyadat Allah. Alas, the Byzantine renegade's scheming mistress Kassia convinced the emir he's a triple-crossing traitor and has his flesh served as 'exotic dinner' to his own entourage and the Vikings, who were to be arrested afterward but escape thanks to a sand storm and set sail back home. The Saxon troops are massacred again in Ivar's bloody trap at York, even warrior bishop Heahmund is captured but fascinates Ivar too much to be wasted. They no longer pose an imminent threat to the Vikings, pondering to retreat back into the swamps, so Ivar and Hvitserk decide to leave only a garrison and return to Scandinavia for revenge on Lagertha and Ubbe, but stop first at king Harald's Norwegian capital to propose a vindictive alliance against Kattegat. Floki has returned to recruit colonist for the 'land of the gods', but Lagertha forbids 'desertion' now Harald threatens her realm.—KGF Vissers
