Very tense and foreboding
aram-9900831 October 2022
The whole show, but particularly this episode, just gives this sense that something really bad is going to happen. Like really bad. The tension with the music and the dialogue, you'd think it would be released but it never is. The whole crew behind this show, phenomenal. Really adult show. No kids here. No kid could possibly understand what's going on in this show. This show doesn't give you the information that you want. You need to give this show your undivided attention so that you can keep up with the extremely fast pace and understand what is even going on.

One final thing. That last scene, impeccable. The tension, the writing. The conversation is cut with scenes of an character in a very sticky situation, making the scene sooooo dramatic and keeping your eyes glued to the screen. When Marty goes, "you broke my heart", bruh, no words. Just really well done.

Buoy is boo-ee in America
poohead452 February 2022
In response to the other reviewer about how to pronounce buoy Marty said it as boo-ee Which is how I also pronounce it as does anyone I've ever spoke to about buoys (I live on an island so "buoys" come up more than I'd like lol) I then wondered "have I been saying buoy wrong my entire life?" I had to look it up.

As per my research Americans say buoy as boo-ee British people say it as boy This is as per my "how do you pronounce buoy search"

Maybe that reviewer is British? I am not sure but boo-ee is how the Google search for American English said

But I digress, great ep.

A little too on the nose re: Charlotte at the end Solid acting from everyone Glad to see Marty and Wendy having a real conversation about their relationship.

Solid episode

Warning: Spoilers
"Nest Box" is yet another solid, tense-filled episode of Ozark. I liked how Marty and the snells turned on each other and Mason finally realizing he was just a pawn in their games. Charlotte and Jonah start school, but Charlotte, who i find to be irritating, skip class and decides to go back to Chicago. Until Ruth and Wendy intercept. Speaking of Wendy, I like how smart she is and how good she is at convincing people. The final scene where Marty and Wendy discusses their marriage life was fantastic and tense. It is fueled by powerhouse performance from Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. Overall the acting department in the show is amazing same goes to the technical aspects.

Elephant(s) in the room.

Warning: Spoilers
Overall I find the series very enjoyable. That said, there are a few core issues I feel in need of addressing. Why does Marty Byrde seem to tell everyone he has met for five minutes his situation and what he is doing? Why, when he is fully aware of who it is that he (Byrde) is working for and the power they can/do exert - did he no inform the Cartel of the problems he was encountering with the Snells from the get go? Instead, he showers the Snells with free money (belonging to? Explained away how?) Highlighting his weak position and encouraging them to exploit him further.

Nest Box

Warning: Spoilers
Another episode that relied a bit too much on Marty's cursing to keep us entertained than any particular storyline driving things forward. Him being able to discuss spanking during sex with a straight face is an accomplishment in its own right.

But the daughter nearly drowning and then coming back to life, the realization that she has to accept her situation and use it to reestablish herself, wasn't the kind of metaphor the show really needs. It was just a sappy ending.

Loses believability
ghock-304032 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode relies on overly convenient plot devices to move the plot forward. The convenience of what occurs destroys the realism of the show, which it relies on for its appeal.

It's not a deal breaker but it's a step down in quality and the character moments are highly questionable. Marty revealing the heroin dealers church plan, the truck crash causing the death of the real estate broker's mother IMMEDIATELY after she decides to get her money back, and Charlotte's random run away to get them to the prison were all far too convenient and the playoffs weren't earned.

Wtf pronunciation moment.

Warning: Spoilers
Not a bad episode, but I had to skip back 3 times to hear Marty say buoy as boo-ee over again.

Did he just not know the word (like my 9yo self pronouncing fatigue as fatty-goo), or do some people genuinely say it like that??

Rather spoilt the tone of the episode, but cheered me right up because I was laughing so much.

Can't wait to see them sa'ill some bowats from the shoreey out to the church in the next episode!
