The Nation's Favourite Carpenters Song

Warning: Spoilers
I have listened to a few of this band's songs, but I knew there were many others I had either forgotten about or not listened to at all, so this documentary countdown programme was a good opportunity to see what else they did. The Carpenters are one of the most recognised vocal and instrumental duos in music history, sister Karen with her beautiful voice and brother Richard providing the music and lyrics, and still remain so to this day. Karen Carpenter suffered from anorexia nervosa, an eating disorder that was little known at the time, she tragically died in 1983 of heart failure, but the legend of the band lives on, and this show counted down the best songs they have given us, as voted for by the public. The songs listed are: "Touch Me When You're Dancing" (1981), "It's Going to Take Some Time" (1972), "Hurting Each Other" (1972), "I Need to Be in Love" (1976), "For All We Know" (1971), "Sing" (1973), "I Won't Last a Day Without You" (1974), "Superstar" (1971), "Only Yesterday" (1975), "Goodbye to Love" (1972), "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" (1973), "Solitaire" (1975), "Yesterday Once More" (1973), "There's a Kind of Hush (All Over the World)" (1976), "Rainy Days and Mondays" (1971), "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" (1977), "(They Long to Be) Close to You" (1970), "Top of the World" (1973), "We've Only Just Begun" (1970), and a good number one with "Please Mr. Postman" (1974). Other songs mentioned in the programme were: "We've Only Just Begun", "Ticket to Ride" (originally The Beatles), "One Fine Day" and "A Song for You". Narrated by Zoë Ball, with contributions from Richard Carpenter, Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss (founders of A&M Records), Burt Bacharach, Petula Clarke, Jim and Andrea Corr (The Corrs), Paul Gambaccini, Kate Garraway, Brian Holland, Myleene Klass, Kate Nash, Rumer, Nicole Scherzinger and Paul Williams. Very good!
