According to the creative team, actress Yael Stone put toilet paper in the front of her mouth while filming Picnic at Hanging Rock (2018) to help form the speech and mannerisms of the character Dora Lumley.
According to show-runner Larysa Kondracki, she got sick after filming at Mount Diogenes, which led her to wonder if the rock had become angry with her for entering its domain.
According to the series creative team, obtaining footwear for the large ensemble cast was difficult; many pairs of shoes were rented from costume suppliers across Australia as well as a specialty supplier in Los Angeles. Some shoes were purchased from retailers and adapted by the costume department to appropriate for the period.
All the corsetry worn by female cast members was custom made to ensure the shapes they created complemented the characters.
Production designer Josephine Ford and her department collaborated with the National Trust in Victoria when filming in and around some of Melbourne's historic landmarks and stately homes.
