- The presenters are forced to work together to transport fish to impoverished communities in Mozambique's interior. The starting point is Mozambique's capital, Maputo, at the very southern end of the country.
- The trio head to Mozambique on a mission to bring fish from the capital of Maputo to the people of Bingo (A village in the west of the country). To cover the 200 mile journey of their task, each presenter chooses a vehicle they believe will work, with a modification for the job - May brings along a Mercedes-Benz Estate (known for dependability) with a Perspex tank filled with sea water, Clarkson drives in a Nissan Hardbody truck (4X4) fitted with an ice machine, and Hammond arrives with a TVS Star motorcycle (800 BP, 100 cc engine, 7 BHP) and an attached rack on its rear.
May fills his tank with seawater, but the car gets very heavy and won't budge. Plus, the seawater plops over the tank walls and onto May in the driver's seat, every time he moves the car. Clarkson must tow May out of the wet sand. Then they use a local boat and nets to catch fish. They catch only 8 tiny fish after hours of work. The next morning, they buy the entire market's supply. Eventually the trio loaded the fish onto their vehicles and were ready.
The start is easy as the trio encounter tarmacked roads, which are very smooth with no potholes etc. But further inland, the roads got rougher. May lost most of his open tank water and Hammond lost most of the drying fish on his mobile rack. Soon though, the going got worse as there were no road, only mud and rivers of mud.
Along the way, the group endure multiple breakdowns. May's Mercedes broke every time it went through a puddle. Clarkson's ice making machine runs out of water. Hammond's TVS starts even after drowning in a river of mud. By nightfall, the trio were not even halfway to Bingo. The next morning May tries to fill his tank by making sea water with salt minerals. As the trio gets underway, the wet roads have dried up which reveals a layer of fine sand with a hard subsurface underneath. So, Hammond's TVS has no grip, and he keeps falling over. May's Mercedes then gets an electrical fire with saltwater getting into all the wires.
Clarkson's ice machine breaks down. So, he reroutes his exhaust to the back of his pickup truck to smoke the fish. further ahead, the road basically turns to mush. Clarkson must tow May most of the way. To make matters worse, the road ahead is waist deep flooded. Clarkson gets through and Hammond finds a way through the edge of the water. May's Mercedes gets stuck in the middle of lake. Clarkson rescues him
At night Hammond and Clarkson saw off May's engine and tow it permanently to the back of Clarkson's pick up. Eventually the trio reach the town of Bingo only to face a problem when they finally arrive with the fish, they have brought with them. Clarkson's smoked fish is diesel infused and inedible. May's fish are dead by all the dragging around by Clarkson. The locals are not interested in the fish. The trio get their photos taken by the hello mag photographer and fly off in their helicopter.
