Capsule Review: Himalayathile Kashmalan
nairtejas29 October 2017
Himalayathile Kashmalan has a decent plot that could have been turned into a great satire had it controlled its character influx and cringe-worthy slapstick. Three men are out to help their friend escape from the bathroom of a house where he went to hook up with a married woman. The husband comes home at the wrong time, leaving our boy locked in. The escape plan blows out of proportion as the whole neighborhood gets involved with local party men vying to fix the situation and take credit. Director Abhiram Suresh Unnithan must have thought of this as a sarcastic jibe at how death is celebrated in Kerala but all that Himalayathile Kashmalan succeeds in doing is madden its audience with unfunny jokes, a boisterously ridiculous Anand Manmadhan, and a worse second half. There are few bits and pieces here to relish on, but as a whole Himalayathile Kashmalan fails as a film. It is a poorly-made film by an amateur director whose best decision in the film was to not add any explicit vulgarity. TN.
