An episode worthy of it's own spin-off series!
whitemountainx-4144610 October 2017
As some of the other reviews have stated, the show's writers are top notch and have a knack for writing episodes which suck in viewers and make them want to binge-watch.

This episode I instantly recognized potential for a spin-off television series featuring the children and the professor.

Dr. Who had it's Sarah Jane Adventures spin-off geared towards the youth generation and I believe Dark Matter has the potential to do the same.

The Best Yet
bshaef31 July 2017
I have watched all DM episodes and enjoyed every one of them because the writing and acting is superb. I believe this episode was the best yet because it +seemed to me that it lasted less than a half hour. I think it was comparable to anything I've seen on The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. All actors, especially Android, and writers and the director should get A++ for this episode. I didn't want it to end.

I wasn't expecting the episode to be...

So good... Several sci-fi shows has used this trope of getting back to earth in the 21st century several times now... But Two having a moment with a dog and Five enjoying video games felt really good. I knew somehow that budget will bring them back to earth but they did it in a cool way. I would have enjoyed more interaction with the 21st century people and somehow a kind of story with the kids... It was ruined (totally) but Android was amazing.

Oh no, not time travel (again)!
praqoon28 November 2022
As soon as I read the tagline "Blink Drive self-activates and sends the crew of the Raza 600 years back in time to the friendly 21st century suburbia" it reminded me of Back To The Future, Star Trek The Voyage Home, and all other sci-fi movie/shows that took their protagonist(s) back to Earth's previous/current timeline from the future. It's a storyline that's threadbare due to over-use no matter how it's depicted.

There's no spoilers here but the references to modern day real life in this episode were more than enough to make me cringe. The interactions of the Raza crew with humans is well expected and predictable. The crew's reaction to 21st century Earth is also steroetyped to the hilt. There's nothing in this episode that is relevant to the rest of the Dark Matter storyline and if it was missed out entirely there would be no detriment whatsoever.

I really hate these time travel for no reason fillers that don't make any sense to include. 3/10 for lack of writing effort and creativity.

The first utterly terrible episode
thealch2 August 2017
So this series has been amazing up until this point.

Apparently going back in time and arriving at Earth as we know it turns future space dwellers into complete morons, allowing unknown children to walk around and stumble across space guns, making usually super-powered androids not notice when they are being followed by children, and somehow children on bicycles can not only keep up with androids in cars, but can magically teleport ahead of cars.

Not to mention the terrible acting of Earth dwellers, this episode has been utterly terrible, and a prime example of why sci-fi writers should not re-hash the same old rubbish stories.

Really, accidentally went back in time so now have to pretend to be normal humans on Earth for a while? REALLY? That is the best you could do?

Your'e fired!

Makes Little Sense
Hitchcoc26 September 2020
Other than the cutesiness of the gang traveling back to "modern day" earth by accident (Wisconsin of all places), the whole plot is preposterous. Of course, there is the discomfort of people from 600 years into the future coexisting with suburban folks in the Midwest. The implications of time travel are pretty badly portrayed. I'm sure people that think "The Trouble with Tribbles" was the best Star Trek will like this offering.

People who rated this episode postivly have a problem.

Warning: Spoilers
Oh my god, did this episode made me angry. The show definetly had strong, and weak episodes. But this? This was awful. Maybe as a hungarian, I take offense in the fact when my neighbours come over to greet me in an area (which in this country is not a custom, and it never was) their kids come into my house, go up and start going through my unpacked things. I mean, those kida are a different bunch. Being able to hide from a future android that can sense a 0.2% different in your bloodpreause, WHILE simultaneously being able to keep up with her, who is in a car . And also excuse me but are they really keeping a mini space ship in the middle of a forest? Like, not even trying to hide it. While mentioning that they cant make any paradoxes. When I heard the kid talking about uploading the photo of the ship for upvotes, I came to the site, checked the episode, saw the other ratings, typed the title, and went back to watch it. Honestly? There are a few cute moments, but nothing makes this episode accaptable. Not even the way that The Androing called Five "goth chick".

Spiraling down
nemesis-8815 March 2020
And suddenly we're plunged head first into a children's comedy. Sure, American boys "in the early 21st century just barge into other people's homes and rammage through their stuff, AND suppose suspicious people are "Russian spies". And they follow those "Russian spies" wearing bike helmets. And it was such a cute show. Sighhhh...

They even nailed the time travel aspect..
shape01220 January 2020
Cheese, clichés, raped plot, that will still not make any sense most of the time, cartoon characters and now this. Its only the 3rd season and they already ran out of ideas to the point where the crew now conveniently travels back to the 21st century. Well, maybe its more about the budget, after all, we did see the loopday episode just recently. Anyways. The episode is practically flawless, if we accept that everything is made out of cheese. Just take a look at that chemical flask next to the mad scientist in his last scene! Convince ourselves that this was indeed the creators' intention, and we re in for a fun ride. Completely out of the context of previous episodes, but still a lot of fun. They even managed to nail the time travel stuff, its a shame, that they are forced to work with a budget that requires these "creative" episodes to be made. Then there is Endgame, where the villain dies before his transgression...
