A man trying to get to a meeting on time is plagued by worries about what state he left his apartment in.
Everyone has had those niggling doubts once they have left the house – for me it is usually if I remembered to lock the back door or not, but it can also be leaving lights on, forgetting to shut a window, things like that. Ruben Leaves takes this feeling and extends it into a creatively animated experience that takes place in a pretty contained real world. It is how well it brings this into animated form that makes it work – an unlocked door, a gas hob left on, a window left open – all of them expand into scenarios growing increasingly imaginative and detailed. They are not played for excess of humor, but for the beauty of them, and they engage not just because they are relatable but also because they are very easy to watch and make for an enjoyable animated short.
