Disney has confirmed that Korean webtoon-to-screen adaptation “Low Life” is poised to begin production.
When valuable treasure is discovered off the coast of Korea, the country’s biggest degenerates come crawling out of the woodwork in the hope of striking it big. Word spreads after a fisherman got lucky and kept a piece of the booty for himself. Among those tempted to brave the depths of the ocean are two members of a fractious and disunited crime family – notably an uncle who both looked after his nephew and led him astray.
The original story was a webtoon written by Yoon Tae-ho and first published by Kakao between 2014 and 2015. The literal translation of the Korean title is ‘country bumpkin.’ The story itself was inspired by a real-life event when a 14th century Chinese ship was found in 1975 off the coast of Shinan, South Korea.
The adaptation is penned by Kang Yoon-sung,...

Ethan Hawke and Maya Hawke are just a couple of over 20 musicians who’ve contributed to Light in the Attic & Friends, a covers compilation that’ll be released for Record Store Day’s annual Black Friday event. As a preview, the father-daughter actor duo have shared their rendition of Willie Nelson’s “We Don’t Run,” featuring production from Christian Lee Hutson and mixing by Jay Som’s Melina Duterte.
Considering the delicate indie folk Maya releases on her own, it’s not too much of a surprise that Nelson’s classic outlaw country would be a staple of the Hawke household while she was growing up: “This song is off Willie’s brilliant album Spirit, which has been a mainstay in our home since it was released in 1996,” Ethan said in a statement. “Everybody needs a good anthem song. This is one of the best.”

“She’s coming out,” a choreographer says over a P.A. system, sounding tense. “Everyone get your horns and masks on.” A couple of nights before the Grammys, 22 shirtless, flawlessly fit male dancers, each equipped with a bejeweled face mask and hazardous-looking black bull’s horns, line up on a rehearsal-studio stage within Sony Pictures’ Culver City lot, awaiting inspection.
Madonna struts out of a dressing room far across the studio, dressed in a matador outfit, sans pants.

James Ashcroft will direct the feature film adaptation of “Old Haunts.” The “Coming Home In the Dark” filmmaker was tapped for the gig by Awa Studios, the film and television division of Artists, Writers & Artisans (Awa), which published the popular graphic novel that is inspiring the movie.
Ashcroft will direct the “Old Haunts” adaptation from a script by in-demand scribe Aaron Rabin, who is hot off of the newly launched Marvel series, “Secret Invasion.” Zach Studin, president of Awa Studios, will produce the movie.
Since the world premiere of “Coming Home In The Dark” at Sundance, where the psychological thriller made a stir, Ashcroft has become an in-demand filmmaker, lining up projects with Agbo, Legendary and Netflix.
“James Ashcroft is a cinematic force, with an incredible vision for this explosive story that collides the genres of crime and horror,” Studin said. “His ability to capture heart-wrenching performances, while delivering gripping tension,...

When Metro Boomin closed out the first day of Coachella 2023, The Weeknd showed up at the Sahara Tent to lend a hand on several songs.
The Weeknd first performed his solo songs “Faith,” “Escape from LA,” and “Heartless” before Future joined the artists for “Low Life.” From there, Abel Tesfaye debuted “Double Fantasy,” a song from his upcoming HBO series The Idol. The artists closed the set with “Creepin,” which also featured 21 Savage and Diddy. Check out the star-studded show below.
Apart from a new remix of “Die for You” featuring Ariana Grande, as of late The Weeknd has turned away from music in favor of acting. He’s set to star alongside Jenna Ortega in an as-yet-untitled film, while The Idol — the Sam Levinson-co-created series that’s made headlines for its “trauma porn” storylines — should debut later this year.

Heads up, thriller fans! I’ve got something that you might want to check out. Low Life is a tense thriller that situates itself directly in our modern digital era, while also playing on a classic cat and mouse premise. Director Tyler Michael James manages to blend a very modern style with more of a classic thriller approach, while tackling a tricky subject as the center of his film.
Benny Jansen (Wes Dunlap) is a streamer who makes videos of himself tracking down and exposing child sex predators. He poses as underaged girls online and waits for older men to strike up a conversation. Once the interactions reach a certain level and a meet-up is requested, he shows up and busts them on camera.
His current project was brought to him by a local teenager and fan of his channel named Nicole (Lucy Urbano) who suspects that her friend’s father is a predator.

Introducing ‘31 Days’ A Collection Of Halloween Inspired Photo Sets By Rae Mystic, One For Each Day Of The Spookiest Month Of The Year: "What began as a photography challenge to capture 31 different halloween or horror-themed looks throughout the month of October in 2018 has now transformed into ‘31 Days,’ a physical collection of horror and spooky themed photography from renowned photographer, Rae Mystic.
“After completion I thought, ‘How cool would it be to turn it into a physical collection?’ but imposter syndrome and a global pandemic stopped me from moving forward with it,” says Rae Mystic. “But I was still growing in my craft.”
In the years since starting the project, Rae Mystic has grown into a full-time photography and production business complete with a photo house, themed rooms, and a collection of wonderful clients.
“Three and a half years later, I decided it was time to pick back up this passion project.
