Posledniy bogatyr Disney's attempt to enter the Russian exit
eva3si0n19 June 2022
Posledniy bogatyr Disney's attempt to enter the Russian exit. In general, epics have recently been relevant in Russian cartoons. Posledniy bogatyr is clearly only aimed at the youngest audience. He is unlikely to enter the adult viewer, here is a very primitive story, the lore and completely stupid motivation of the heroes are poorly spelled out. Can be recommended for viewing only with children.

"white slavers" go to russia
d-shr21 January 2018
1. Russian mythology is severely distorted in this movie to suite disney's templates.

2. Movie features only noname actors.

3. This actors either can't act or weren't allowed to do so.

4. Soundtrack is mostly in english.

5. Plot is obvious.

6. Hero's journey template is used in the most unimaginative way.

7. Humor in the movie is flat.

Enjoyed it
pipo-31 May 2019
I'm not familiar with the Russian mythology backstory but I really did enjoy this movie, the characters script and story is well laid out and I felt each character fit each part perfectly.

I wasn't sure going into this if it was going to be a kids movie or teenager age group but I think it suits teens to adults just fine and its probably similar to harry potter or the hobbit / lord of the rings.

in any case I thought it was a good movie all the props looked great and authentic as-well as the great scenery, not once did it seem low budget, overall it ended being much better then a lot of the Hollywood movies being forced out today..

Very, very average film
aorlov-331923 October 2018
This movie was the biggest box office success in post communist Russia. Have no idea why. Boring and very primitive script. Poor acting. I guess people in Russia missed fairy tale films that once, in Soviet times, were really good. But not this one.

Russian fairy-tale movies' triumphant comeback.
rainfollower-95-64632423 November 2017
One of the best things that happened to Russian cinema since 1990-s. Even though under Disney supervision. The very best thing that happened to Russian "fairy-tale movie" tradition since the middle of XX century. The most wonderful approach to Slavic folklore and and folk tales. Yet, understandable to those not familiar with mythology.

I can praise this movie in many other ways as well. Praise actors, and writers, and direction, and special effects... I haven't seen such a gem in many years! But the long and the short of it is: this "Posledniy bogatyr" ("~last hero, ~last warrior" is you want correct meaning) is totally worth seeing it whether you're Russian or not. You'll have 90 minutes of action, romantics, quite international humour, good personalities and picturesque evil masterminds. And a large piece of tradition and mythology as well.

It's fun! I give you my word on that.

Very bad

Warning: Spoilers
The Disney franchise "The Last Hero" is quite a controversial project, let's be honest. On the one hand, it is a good idea to mix Russian folklore with modernity and teach it under a new look and in a new form. On the other hand, how was everything embodied? Everything is mixed up and mixed up in a completely different way than it should be. One of the three heroes turns out to be a traitor and a villain. And inherently negative characters like Baba Yaga or Koshchei the Immortal are suddenly kind, positive heroes. Well, okay, we'll write off the Disney "I'm an artist, I see it that way." Thank you that Baba Yaga is not a man, and koshchei is not a dark-skinned hero with binary disorders who muddles the mud with a Water. And if the first part of the film franchise, with the exception of the unconventional perception of the very folklore from which the plot is based, as a whole was more than watchable, interesting, and even jokes were often about a person from the real world who got into a conditional kingdom Far away, then the second turned out to be weaker, but was still worthy of viewing at least once (although the ending was screwed up, of course, in the worst way).

A specimen of successful collaboration
jahn-0032524 January 2018
Decent fairy tales are really in scarcity on screens nowadays. When talking about Russian ones, there has even hardly been anything good enough lately. Though the movie Posledniy bogatyr as the last joint attempt of Russians and Disney seems to have finally born fruit.

The work, based on ancient Russian mythology, tries to muddle up some myths with the contemporary world. Even though it might be considered controversial at first, the approach is one of the main advantages of the film, since it by all means gives a new lease of life to the old stories and characters which are rather well-known, at least in the post-Soviet countries. The latter should definitely appeal to young generations of spectators.

Adding to that, the movie does not imply any political or social problematic context which is rarely absent in films produced nowadays. Thus, the product just does its job, concentrating on telling a fairy tale wittily and showing us marvelous scenes of another world.

Exploiting this mixture with the modern and ancient cultures, the film has some related downsides too. For instance, adding several pieces of popular music was rather a mistake, for they sound quite out of place. Generally hilarious atmosphere may also be slightly exaggerated at times and bear the perception of mocking renowned Russian characters. Apparently, it is not the major purpose of the creators, but merely a bid to attract international community that is hardly acquainted with this realm of Russian culture.

To summarize, the movie has a good chance to popularise some ancient Russian legends through giving them fresher modern guise. Despite being a light comedy, it would also be unfair to convict the work of being shallow, since it brings along a deep meaning of how changeable the human nature is and how strikingly unfeasible it is to differentiate precisely between good and evil.

Negative emotions
olololooshkoo19 January 2022
The film was a flop. Starting with a plot that is sucked from the finger and invented on the go. The acting also didn't please, as if it was a small budget Irish film. Ending with special effects that were so terrible that it could have been done better on the phone ..

One of the best movies in the last 5 years!
WatchAndSmile8 December 2017
I looooved this movie. It was amazing in every way and one day I will be showing it to my kids and there aren't many that deserve this "title" in my view.

The humor and the fairy tale plot made it an enjoyable experience. The cast was great with actors who are very good and loved by many. The story had a lot of twists and and the graphics was awesome as well. This is a very well put movie that took the old fairy tale(s) and made it modern and it worked perfectly. I really hope there will be a part 2. It is far better than a lot of Hollywood movies and I can easily compare it to Harry Potter in terms of overall greatness or Maleficent in terms of the fairy tale as they have some similarities.

A great movie. There is no other way for Disney. Excellent makeup, kind and not pretentious jokes. Actually a good, kind children's movie. This is a holiday movie, it is watched by family.

Warning: Spoilers
"The Last Hero" is a real family, kind and funny movie!

The plot revolves around an ordinary Moscow resident who accidentally got into another world, then he learns a lot about himself, fights evil and finds his love.

The film is played by long-loved and charming actors who adorn it. There are a lot of jokes, because of this, the film is interesting not only for children, but also for adults, in addition, the main characters are all familiar heroes of fairy tales, which arouses the interest of many!

The film is filled with intriguing and exciting moments that the viewer experiences together with the hero!

In general, I want to say that the film is very good. Be sure to watch this part and the next one, and the third part is waiting for me)

Ideal!
pgribnikova19 January 2022
In my opinion, this film is the ideal of a modern Russian fairy tale. The film mentions problems that are still relevant today: good and evil, courage, support at the right moment, and many others. It's not the first time I've watched this movie, and I'm still thrilled. I want to review it again and again. The actors did a great job, a great director and music. The atmosphere of the movie is just wow. The plot is unique and does not repeat any plot of famous fairy tales. I also really liked that the modern world and folklore are combined here. It's wonderful that we don't forget exactly what has always been ours.

Family film
serafimzaichev19 January 2022
This movie is quite suitable for family viewing.

A kind story, based on Russian fairy tales (facts may be a little bit distorted in order to fit the story) and combining the world of fantasy and the reality. It is worth mentioning that there are jokes not just for children. The film unravels some facts of Russian mythology and helps to understand better the culture. For Russian people, the cast is familiar, the actors are local celebrities (including voice actors). Enjoyed!

So one thing I can say, we just really liked the movie!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, director Dmitry Dyachenko turned out an interesting film and it is better to watch it in a cinema, like the first two films. Yes, the first time the picture was released, there were problems with tickets. But then, like a year ago, they went with their daughter, but the heroes are still the same as before: Viktor Khorinyak - Ivan Muromets, yes, this is definitely the last hero; Mila Sivatskaya is simply Vasilisa the wise; Sergey Burunov - cool Waterman; Elena Yakovleva is the real Baba Yaga; Timofey Tribuntsev - magician Svetozavr; Konstantin Lavronenko - Koschey the Immortal; Well, what about without Kolobok, which was simply awesomely voiced by Garik Kharlamov; yes, I almost forgot Elena Valyushkina - Galina is Ivan's mother; and Philip Kirkorov - The Firebird, etc. The film looks very easy, both for children and adults. The bun and the water bun behave coolly, and even that frame and he throws out such that the whole audience laughs, and Kashchei himself is immortal, well, just a sidekick with Ivan, but Baba Yaga and the magician are just real friends. Well, the Firebird, it's just a miracle of miracles, but he laughed heartily, that's for sure. So one thing I can say, we just really liked the movie!!! Hide.
