Nice Featurette
Restoring 'Macbeth' (2016)
*** (out of 4)
Former Preservation Officer at UCLA Film and Television Archive Robert Gitt is interviewed for this eight-minute featurette that has him talking about the history of Orson Welles' MACBETH. The film has been available in a couple different versions and Gitt starts off talking about how UCLA ended up with a couple prints and how this led him to discover that there are multiple versions out there with an alternate soundtrack and takes. He talks about how this led him to make an additional phone call, which led to even more footage. If you're a fan of the film or just enjoy hearing about preservation then you'll certainly enjoy this featurette. There are some nice stories told about the film, how it was restored and Gitt also talks about what preserving films really means.
