A bloody indie horror anthology

Warning: Spoilers
VOLUMES OF BLOOD: HORROR STORIES is an indie horror anthology that lives up to its title. The framing story involves a couple being led around a new home by an estate agent who tells them horror stories to pass the time. All of the stories invariably involve innocent folk being slashed up and there's a great deal of blood splashed around. Unfortunately, that's all there is. The whole thing feels lowbrow and repetitive. There's some edgy styling but that's all you'll find here.

All roads lead to the same end

I agree with the other review. Any emotional punch of the stories in this anthology are paved over with the "need" for a gory scene. Maybe I'd the fears were mixed up more, it would help. The couple in the house towards the end was hilarious though. The actors really sold it! Basically a black comedy.

Oh, it was bad alright...

Right, well I am not usually overly keen on watching horror anthologies, as you might know the majority of these horror anthologies are usually rubbish. But "Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories" states 'critically acclaimed anthology' in its synopsis. So I opted to sit down and watch the 2016 horror anthology.

But from not even 5 minutes into the ordeal it was painstakingly clear that I was not in for a critically acclaimed anything here, and that it was going to be another one of those laughably bad and horribly made anthologies. Lo and behold, it turned out to be exactly that.

The segments had just about as much appeal as getting stung repeatedly by a swarm of bees. So trust me, you might want to skip on "Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories".

Then there was the acting performances. Well, at least they tried. But truth be told, the acting performances in "Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories" were every bit as wooden and rigid as they were amateurish and cringeworthy to watch.

Visually then you are not in for a great experience either. It wasn't among the worst of visual effects in horror movies, though. So that's got to count for something, right?

And it was actually clear that the anthology was made by people whom had the drive and spirit in the right place. However, when I sit down to watch something, I want to be properly entertained. And I am not one that finds something that I could film myself with my DV camera as being proper entertainment. So the movie failed to deliver here.

If you enjoy horror anthologies, then "Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories" is definitely not one I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on.

My rating of the 2016 horror anthology "Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories" lands on a two out of ten stars.
