The Making Of The Serpent And The Rainbow (2016)
*** (out of 4)
Author Wade Davis, cinematographer John Lindley, special effects artists Lance and David Anderson and actor Bill Pullman are interviewed for this twenty-four minute documentary that takes a look at Wes Craven's THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW. Davis, who wrote the original story, talks about how he thought Craven was attracted to this material because he could do something different but of course Hollywood needed more horror elements to try and sell the picture. The interviews are all extremely nice and especially the stuff dealing with the special effects. Hearing about the snake and how it was used in the film was quite tense to say the least. The stuff with Pullman were taken from the audio commentary on the disc. Sadly, Craven died during the production of the disc so he wasn't interviewed for this.
