Dead girls do not sing
Tweekums21 April 2018
This episode opens at the funeral of Annelies's father funeral, at which we see Paul has returned. Afterwards the team are called in when a girl is found hanged at a prestigious boarding school. Paul quickly believes it was a sex game gone wrong. John isn't so sure so takes the case the Professor T. The Professor is happy to take the case as is gets him out of an appointment with a student who is uncomfortably flirtatious. It soon becomes apparent that people are hiding things; first it emerges that her boyfriend had been in the room and argued with her then there are claims that a teacher had been involved with her... this is rather awkward as the teacher in question is the husband of Professor T's psychiatrist.

There are plenty of enjoyably surreal moments during this episode as Professor T sees his psychiatrist's husband as a marionette who does as his wife tells him and the opening funeral scene where he imagines everybody breaking out into a song and dance routine. The case is intriguing with plenty of possibilities... including that it was just a tragic accident. There are revelations during the investigation; some that were far from obvious. The cast were on fine form; it was good to Herwig Ilegems return as Paul after some time away and Goele Derick return as Mrs Sneyers after missing the previous episode. Away from the case there are interesting personal developments as Annelies considers her future in the police and Christina's boyfriend behaves in a suspicious manner. Overall an impressive episode.

Poetry in motion

Another strong episode with sensitive themes which hopefully will help those in need.

An intense episode which, as usual, is lifted by the reappearance of Ingrid Sneyers.

The scooter from her previous appearance has disappeared and she has now to taken to watching snooker, having massages and playing the didgeridoo (even if she can't find B flat!) for relaxation.

There are several relationship issues in the episode and the story has a mixed blend of relationship issues and crime story which are both well entwined.

The one thing that doesn't make sense is that Daan had a relationship with the father of Annalies (Daan was all he said in later episodes) so it seems strange that he didn't make an appearance at the funeral.

The episode closes with Annelies seeking a private word with Christina which opens things up for the season two-parter finale.

Very Good Mystery

Warning: Spoilers
This is another very good Professor T mystery. Fortunately, the side stories are short-lived and do not interfere with the main story.

Paul's back on the scene and at first he's an obstacle to the solution. But then, after a while he becomes useful to the case.

Compared to other episodes, this one was written particularly well. The writers managed to make the synchronicity of the characters appear plausible and natural.

Also there is an interesting possible future side-story involving a student who is smitten with Professor T. It will be interesting to see if that goes anywhere.

AND my hat's off to the writers for the way they handled the funeral scene that I was dreading. Segueing into a round of Peggy Lee's monster hit, "Is that all there Is?" was a stoke of pure genius!
