Mudhoney stage a funky passion play, complete with cross-wielding messiah, in the video for “Kill Yourself Live,” their new sardonic ditty about suicide in the time of social media. The video features a mess of heathen Romans, including one dressed in tie-dye, all dancing behind Jesus as he cries blood to a soundtrack of Farfisa organ and slide guitar. It cuts to a Da Vinci-styled Last Supper scene where Christ and his disciples open their laptops to the lyrics: “When I killed myself live, I got so many ‘likes.'...

If you found yourself hypnotized by the trippy music video for Ariana Grande's "God Is a Woman," then prepare to be left breathless by her performance at the MTV VMAs. Grande, who just released her new album, Sweetener, hit the stage at the award show accompanied by a group of more than 50 female dancers, who broke it down at a Last Supper-esque tableau. In the lead-up to her performance, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that her set would be "nothing short of God-like," and we have to agree. Check out the Moon Person winner's performance for yourself ahead, and make sure you watch until the final few seconds, because Grande brings out some truly adorable guests - her cousin, mother, and grandmother!

Some 36 hours after Ariana Grande took to the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night for a spellbinding performance of “God Is a Woman,” choreographers Brian and Scott Nicholson were still taking in the moment.
The twin brothers — known for their credits dancing with Janet Jackson, Kelly Rowland, Nicki Minaj, and Mariah Carey — have been prominent as head choreographers for Grande as far back as “The Honeymoon Tour,” and put together the elaborate piece featuring 47 dancers in less than three weeks. The set and lighting design were conceived by the creative mind of Leroy Bennett, who worked with Prince for 14 years and is responsible for the designs seen on tours for Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Nine Inch Nails, and more.
The resulting visual of the Last Supper brought women of diverse backgrounds literally to the table, and was capped off by the inclusion of Grande’s mother,...

There was something poignant about MTV’s big question this year: How the hell can we keep people from noticing the Video Music Awards? Bump it to a Monday night in August? Not enough. Give Jennifer Lopez a lifetime achievement award for her singing? Not enough. Make Aerosmith jam with Post Malone? Allow DJ Khaled near a mic? Getting warmer, but not quite. Most years the VMAs bash is a surreal tour of pop culture’s dizzy highs and comic lows. But last night was pretty far from any kind of show.

The late night circuit was, predictably, all about Omarosa Manigault Newman. After the former Trump staffer released secretly-taped conversations between her and Trump as well as Chief of Staff John Kelly firing her, the tapes – and the media circus around them – served as comedic fodder for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Over the weekend, Manigault Newman appeared on Meet the Press to discuss her new book about the Trump administration called Unhinged: An Insider Account of the...

Brian De Palma memorably brought Stephen King's novel Carrie to the screen. We take a look back...
Welcome to the very first instalment of our journey through the world of Stephen King screen adaptations and oh, what a varied bunch it will be. We shall begin as all things must, at the beginning, with the first of King’s adaptations to appear in the cinema, Brian De Palma’s high school classic, Carrie. What better place to start than with a cautionary tale of why you should never bully the quiet girl with the latent telekinetic powers?
The Film:
Carrie (Sissy Spacek) is the shy and quiet girl at the back of the gym class. When she heads into the showers after the lesson, she gets her period. Having been raised by a nightmarish mother (the imperious Piper Laurie) who neglected to mention any of these biological developments to her daughter,...
