Think some parts of Godzilla: King Of The Monsters were crazy? Check out some of its non-Hollywood predecessors...
Since 1954, Godzilla has loomed large in popular culture. With 35 cinematic outings under his spines and a 36th (Godzilla vs. Kong) due for release next year, he’s the star of one of the longest-running and most prolific movie franchises ever, thanks to Japanese studio Toho.
One of the best things about Godzilla is that the idea is so simple it can work in almost any context. Across various media, Godzilla has been on sea, land, air, space, and (in one comic series) even the biblical Hell. He’s fought aliens, robots, King Kong, and the Avengers. There’s nothing this mutant monster can’t do.
And to prove it, here are some of crazier things we’ve seen him get up to in his non-Hollywood outings...
Son of Godzilla (1967)
Forget the extremely non-canon Godzooky.

Exclusive: Now this has a familiar ring to it: Robert Zemeckis is revisiting the 1950s to rewrite history with one new project and then he’s going back to the future to prove the power of love with a second project.
No, Zemeckis isn’t revving up the DeLorean for more Marty McFly sequels — however, the director of the Back to the Future trilogy (1985-1990) and Contact (1997) is making a relatively rare return to science fiction with the two projects. This time around, however, his foray into the genre is in a producing role. On Monday, Zemeckis talked about the two projects: Bios, the upcoming feature film; and Project Blue Book, a television series that premieres in January on History.
Bios, scheduled to start filming early next year, reunites Zemeckis with one of his most celebrated collaborators. “We’re producing a really magnificent science fiction project called Bios with Tom Hanks,...

Alphas alum Laura Mennell will help open Blue Book, History’s 10-episode series chronicling the top-secret, U.S. Air Force-sponsored investigations into UFO-related phenomena in the 1950s and ’60s.
RelatedGame of Thrones’ Aidan Gillen to Star In Robert Zemeckis’ UFO Dama
Per our sister site Deadline, Mennell will play Mimi Hynek, the wife of astrophysicist Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Game of Thrones alum Aidan Gillen). She is described as a stay-at-home housewife who “has plans to become much more.”
Mennell currently costars on Audience Network’s Loudermilk; if that freshman comedy is renewed, she would juggle both series.
