Highly entertaining thriller
tenshi_ippikiookami11 June 2017
Ji-sun needs a vacation. She has a little child, she works non-stop, she has problems with his divorced husband and his mother, who want to take the child away from her... Luckily for Ji-sun, she has Han-mae, the woman that takes care of the baby while she is working. But one day, when she comes home, neither of them are there...

What follows is a thrilling and gripping thriller, full of twists and hold-your-breath moments that will keep the viewer entertained all through its running time. Things keep happening and surprises pile on top of each other. It has some plot holes, but the rhythm, acting (even if sometimes there is some overacting) and the direction more than make up for it.

The movie also includes some social criticism, as the events that unfold are based on the injustices of the societies we live in. The decisions taken by the characters make them more than black and white, and that is a strong point for the movie, as the viewer can relate and disagree with the characters and understand their motives.

An emotional rollercoaster
artsycutie6 February 2021
This was the most emotional rollercoaster of a movie I've ever experienced. I cried, and I felt all the pain that both mothers felt and I don't even have children! The acting is a little over the top but I think that's what reeled me in. There are so many twists and I like that we learn more and more about the nanny as the story goes on, and we feel a whole range of emotions from her, from anger to sadness to happiness to pity, and finally to tranquility. In a way, we as viewers see the antagonist as not only the enemy, but also someone we can relate to. Her pain is relatable, having something so dear to her taken away from her, and the feeling of loss and doing anything for her child. Even the protagonist ends up realizing they're feeling a similar feeling of pain. What made me the most emotional was the ending, I didn't expect it to end this way, but it's so true that mothers would do anything for their child, even put themselves at the brink of death, literally. There was something so sad about the way it ended, but also not. When the antagonist chose to let go, the protagonist tried to save her but the antagonist decided that she needed to let go, as hard as it is. Because deep inside, she probably knew that even if she got away with stealing someone else's child, it wouldn't be the same.

Adding this review, because this movie deserves to be appreciated by more people. It's short around 90 mins and story moves in fast pace. Acting is so top notch that you'll feel pity for the characters.I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely a must watch for everyone.

Mothers
Foutainoflife10 December 2018
A overworked, divorced mom puts the wellbeing of her child in the hands of a nurturing nanny. Despite mom's hectic life things are working out just fine until nanny and baby don't come home one evening.

If you're a mother, you'll probably love this. A mother's love for her child has no bounds. This was a well written, acted and filmed movie. There's not much to complain about outside of wanting to kill this woman's mother-in-law.I would've loved to have seen more interaction between the mother and nanny before the disappearance, just to understand their relationship a bit more. This was a nice watch. Totally worth it.

Pleasantly surprised, Good film
Rorschach9512 September 2021
Can't get enough of Asian films and Cinematography! With that being said, this film among a few others I've seen, from the modern Asian Cinematography and not only is good stuff!

If you are being used to Warner Bros, and every Hollywood marketed film then you should try Independent films and those from the Asian Cinematography.

Good and fresh script, relatable characters, it made you understand and ask yourself if there IS an actual villain in this story because, it shows You - the reality of both characters - the mother and the nanny, through their eyes. And none of them had it easy, perhaps the Mother (main character) we are led to believe at first she had an easier life, and she might have had - than the other one.

Perhaps I've seen many cases of Women and children being abused in their family units and I can relate better to the Nanny character and actress, and her story breaks your heart. No life should be more important than another, just because one had the luck to be born into a family with a much Higher status, or financial power. Her child and her life, was also important. This being the catalyst that made her do the gesture that she did, with the other Womans baby...

This film will keep you on the edge of your seat (another good one from the Asian Cinematography, script and characters) impress you and shock you, for me personally it made me relate to both main characters in the story, and the lenghts they go through to fight and protect their children.

Thank you for this beautiful film.

The only thing I would of changed was the ending.
