This episode focuses in on Queen Victoria's quick decision making. This is something that annoys Albert, the practical part of the monarchy. A silk merchant comes to the castle, imploring Victoria to do something about the fate of the workers, who are being pushed out by inferior foreign silk. Instead of pushing for legislation from Parliament, she decides to have a big ball where everyone must use local silk in their costumes. She thinks this is great at the time, but soon comes to realize that the poor are at the gate being kept out by the royal guards. The second child is also born and we can see the Queen suffering from post-partum depression. Also, her friend Lord M, is dying. There are some touching scenes in this episode and Victoria shows her vulnerabilities.

Warning: Spoilers
The scene when Victoria visits Lord M with a gift of a wind up song bird knowing she may never see him again, to say goodbye without actually saying it was so moving. It brought me to tears and to see the next scene unfold as she walks into her room to find Dash...Oh the tears really fell then!

Warning: Spoilers
The Victoria and Lord Melbourne dynamic has always been the best part of this show and even in his health struggles that has remained true. They shared a sweet moment in the past, and that is certainly the kind of thing the show needs.
Some of the stories at the castle were a little too Downton Abbey for my taste though.
