An Engaging Plot Poorly Presented
zigzagtom1 March 2018
I enjoyed the series overall, but was often distracted by gratuitous and irrelevant directorial shenanigans - such as the playing of English-language country songs loudly (for what purpose I'm not sure) and flashing sequences of past events at inappropriate and distracting times. It's a shame because the story line could have been presented much better.

Good, not great

I always love Colin Nutley's work, and Helena Bergström is just as good as usual. There were some interesting characters there (loved Erik), but over-all it comes out a bit average, with many elements which could have been explored further. This was a nice mini-series - I enjoyed it, but won't watch it again.

Slow but intriguing

Found this presented as a feature film on Prime and watched it because I liked the plot. Photography is pretty and Nutley uses Bergström as usual. Premice is ok. But it's so slow. Could've been shortened into 90min or a 2-part TV something. Atmosphere is nice though.

I liked it for a short series in one night. Rate it a 7.

Not so good unfortunately

Warning: Spoilers
Almost stopped after episode 1. There were only four episodes so I kept watching, hoping it would get better. I think in the series there are rather strange coincidences, weird police choices and interrogations and things that are not right. Also there were strange flashbacks with annoying screaming and sometimes there was loud music that did not match with the fragments. The story itself is ok, but needed changes. Sorry to the filmmaker and all the hard working actors for the harsh criticism, but I didn't quite like it.

Rubbish main plot but intriguing background
stairways2 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The main plot of this four-part series is a mash-up of Scandi Noir cliches - returned policewoman, Christian church cult with sexually depraved pastor, etc etc - but the background relationships between the cop and her old colleagues and, better yet, with her estranged daughter and her 'new' mother are intriguing, far more subtle and nuanced than might be expected, and a real counterbalance to the OTT nonsense that makes up the majority of the main so-called plot. Worth watching? Hmmmm. Not really. Maybe it would be twice as good if it was just half as long.
