A large prison and a solitary confinement to convict Richard Ashcroft in "Break the Night with Colour". An emotionally charged song, memorable not only thanks to Rick's voice but also the repetitive use of a keyboard, of which he plays in the video inside a prison cell while watched by a guard. While grounded in between cell bars it's to use and Ashcroft to make a reflection on the feelings and emotions brought by the intensity of his lyrics - a total contrary thesis
of what we see since the colors from the cinematography are so reduced it almost feels colorless, to make the place more empty, more closed and without possible ways of escape both from Richard and the viewer. Here's an artistic experience to be seen and felt, just as good as his other solo videos or the ones by The Verve. 9/10
