My problem is that your new show URBAN VEGETARIAN lacks anything and everything that a cooking show is all about. There was absolutely no introduction to the show, the "host" never once said her name, we found out absolutely nothing about her. The show came on and the host (which we finally found out her name about half-way through the show when a commercial came on advertising the show in the middle of the show) and she was juicing. Well, we ALL know how to juice vegetables as this has been part of most peoples lives for YEARS. She then taught us to make a dorm room burrito with store bought salsa. She proceeded to make a cake, which she didn't even say she was doing. She didn't give us any measurements ... just grind up a blender full of almonds, throw in an undefined amount of eggs, some honey and boom, you have a cake. She then put cream in a bowl and started to mix it ... how much cream? What are we making here? And why do we add the almond flavor at the end??? Oh, and put those gloves on before you cut your beet so you can "keep it classy". Why? Could she have let us know that beets stain? Hello, where is the INFORMATION? Ina Garten walks you through step by step and, like many of her colleagues who are chefs and cooks (which we never found out ANYTHING about the 'host') actually TEACH us something. Cauliflower pizza...how much of each ingredient? But she sure looked cute slowly sprinkling the ground cauliflower bits into the bowl! Nice touch on the store-bought tomato sauce, too. This show was extremely disappointing and Desiree Nielson is both as exciting as "tap water and rice", but she is so very in love with herself and it comes through when she laughs so lovingly at her own jokes (..."win win"... "hahahaha"). Ugh. Rolling my eyes! There was no intro to the show, we found out absolutely nothing about the host - not even her name except for the commercial). Is she a chef? A mom? Where does she live? What is her background? How did she find herself having a show on television? AND WHY? She didn't "cook" anything. Everything was something my college age son would make in a dorm room. I learned absolutely nothing - EXCEPT FOR the Canadian DAIRY COUNSEL must be a sponsor because she cooked with and ate enough cheese to stop up a sumo wrestler for a week! I give this show 1/2 star out of 10, and that is being OVERLY GENEROUS. SHOUT OUT TO SPENCER WATT for being the most entertaining host/show on Zliving!
