Unlikely Lovers
This episode of "For My Man" could equally have been titled "Insanity", or something along those lines; it relates the cases of two young women who committed, indeed planned truly shocking crimes they would never otherwise have contemplated had they not each met and become fascinated by bad boy lovers, read total jerks. In both cases, the fascination didn't last long after the dastardly deeds were done, and dastardly they were indeed.
Antionette Frank was a New Orleans police officer who although not going places could have made a good life for herself. Instead, after becoming infatuated with gangsta Rogers Lacaze she allowed him to talk her into robbing a restaurant, a losing proposition from the start because she was known there. After Lacaze shot and killed a moonlighting police/security officer, there was nothing to do but get rid of the witnesses. Frank murdered two of the staff of the family restaurant in cold blood, and would have murdered the other two. They were brought to book in double quick time, turned on each other, and were sentenced to death in separate trials.
At the time of writing, Antionette Frank has been on death row for over 21 years and has survived two death warrants. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this is not the first documentary that has covered her case.
Although she committed only one murder, the crime of teenager Linda Pedroza is arguably worse, because the victim was her own mother. She and Antoine Wright murdered her in her apartment; he held the victim while Pedroza strangled her. Then, after trying to destroy her body with acid, they dumped it in the country. They were questioned as a matter of routine, but it wasn't long before Pedroza cracked. Although Florida is a capital state, both were allowed to plead guilty to second degree murder. Although the murder was Wright's idea, she received by far the heavier sentence, but what mother would argue with that?
Two truly shocking cases. How could anyone...?
