That's It?

I loved this show but to end it like this with so many unanswered questions and unresolved storylines?

Seriously...what the hell?

Didn't end on a better note

Warning: Spoilers
The director should have shown Tom chandler and others getting back to USA and getting rewards to their service and would be good if they showed everyone happy and tom and sasha with kids together and kara and green with frankie happy should have been shown that would have made the show end with a true happy ending.

Good finale with an awesome battle but poor season overall.
cruise0123 June 2019
The Last Ship Episode 5.10 (4 out of 5 stars).

The season finale does deliver an epic battle on the beach. Chandler's team invading on the beach. Taking down Tavo's military. It was an all out exciting battle. There are some losses. Nathan James going on a battleship fight with another ship. Which has been haunting Chandler all throughout this season has finally met its end.

Overall, The Last Ship season 5 has been fair. I would rate the overall season 3 out of 5 stars. It had an uneven tone. The villain was weak. The story was forced and thin. This season stuck out compared to the previous four seasons. Feeling like it was poorly planned. The script and direction was horrible. There are a few action sequences to make it entertaining. The conclusion may not be the best. It does wrap some character arcs like Tom Chandler. And a few others.

Great end to an amazing series

Tom Chandler, the protagonist of an amazing show, continues to amaze. Not quite the monumental ending this reviewer personally wanted but it was quite a fullling ending nonetheless. I personally wish this show would continue as it has proven for five years to be some of the best action, naval drama, and acting on TV.

Great Wrap to Series after stumbles
MiketheWhistle12 November 2018
This last season of the last ship had many stumbles, but the finale was really good. Knowing a series is ending vs being canceled off the cuff generally helps to create a good conclusion and they didn't try to keep people alive but rather let them go generally in ways that moved the story along. Not sure why another reviewer didn't like it because there was nothing specific, but I think their being willing to let the cast go, ship demise, bringing back some ghosts, and in the last few eps giving a good presentation of what war looks like. The Chandler ship sequence was total bull and solely theatrical which was a great disservice that should have been cut. Otherwise, I'm sure the timing to air on Veteran's Day was intentional and made me proud to be a Navy vet.

Iowa-class battleship????
Chaparral6613 November 2018
I never heard how an Iowa-class battleship (only 4 in existence) came to be in the possession of the enemy forces. They are all museum ships-2 in the Pacific and 2 on the East Coast. Did I miss a part of the plot??

Utterly laughable ending
HigHurtenflurst13 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The finale of this series mirrors the utter decline of the program. So the invasion consists of a half dozen armoured vehicles, which instead of advancing once they hit the beach, disgorge their troops to be heroically shot at. Fortunately the Colombians are more stupid and jump from cover to receive fatal wounds from our heroes. And the fate of the ship and the admiral - unbelievable. The only thing missing at the end is chants of "USA, USA, USA"

Change the last letter of the title to a "T"

...because that 's what talentless writers turned this series into.

But, I'm sure they'll get rehired and ruin another series.

Good riddance to this one!

Sad...but sudden!

Warning: Spoilers
One of my favourite shows has come to an end....sad that the Nathan James ends up at the bottom of the sea and I believe the end was so sudden. It should have ended with everyone being reunited as opposed to Admiral Chandlers head breaking the surface! It was great bringing back a lot of the characters that did not survive all of the adventures in Chandlers vision however it's a pity although her character appeared, that Rhona Mitra couldn't have as she started the whole adventure! Sorry to see the show go but think it had run it's course!

Episode 510
bobcobb30123 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mostly action which is how you want a show to go out. I thought Chandler was going to die, so they did fool with him making it after all. I just feel like it was a letdown after a good run for the last 5 years.

Not sure about ending.
startrek-946-3335012 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Chandler was told "the king is dead". The enemy army had surrendered. The battleship that had fought the Nathen James had stopped firing and was allowing the crew to abandon ship. I think they ended the series by making Chandler a war criminal. That's pretty sad way to end the series.

Worst episode by far
utilityks8 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There were just so many other ways of taking that beach with minimum causalities, taking into account the small number or Chandler's troops he would have thought of a much much better plan and this is totally inconsistent with his genius in military planing! The worst episode by far!

Wait, What?!
Thoharedd8 January 2019
Please, tell me that this is not how they finished this show... What the hell? So many unresolved storylines and the fact that they didn't include Rhona Mitra for a final cameo is such let-down.

Quite disappointing end of the series
realmaestro18 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Quite disappointing end of the series, but honestly quite a few episodes of the 5th season and 4th season were like this - so I really wanted to reach the end of the series - but struggled on several occasions. To much heroism...too bulletproof operators...and the Chandler stunt...well good it is finished. Great first 3 seasons, but.....Since the Tex Nolan death the show went down...

Cheap and silly
mikeprior-8310822 November 2018
Granted they don't have the budget but we're suppsoed to believe that the entire might of the US military is...300 marines, one frigate and one helicopter. Okaaaaaaaay....

I'm assuming numerous plot strands were left unresolved because they were hoping to squeeze a sixth season out of this long-dead horse. Or maybe they just got bored. Or ran out of money.

Shame they couldn't get Rhona Mitra back for a final cameo with the other ghosts.

Super Hero Human
MajorBaleegh16 December 2018
The Last Ship was sailing smoothly in season 1,2 and 3 but in season 4 the things got escalated. The war for the hunt of Mexican War Lord takes and drastic turn. In the final battle once, the battleship almost destroyed the Nathen James and she was sinking, her main engines were destroyed, the navigation system went dark and her propulsion was out of order; and suddenly we saw the sinking vessel started moving at high speed and went straight in to the battleship and destroying it thereby sinking both the ships was a complete fluke. As the navigator and the engine operator both said that the ship is sinking then how come? It started moving was not understood. In a complete destruction of both ships, the captain mercilessly surfaced and was saved. It seems that the TNT was low on budget in the season finale and just hosh poshed the series in the end.
