Tropic of Cancer

Warning: Spoilers
A bit of a shocking ending, but we knew at some point a traitor within the ranks would have to be exposed.

The show is having a solid season, but right now nothing feels finite about it. It seems like any other year which it shouldn't considering it is the last.

Off with another bang
MiketheWhistle1 October 2018
Twists and turns then bang!!!!! This has to be one of the top 10 episodes of the entire series. They are putting on an exhibition of how to close out a series that all shows should follow. By knowing/planning the end, they are closing out characters that they wouldn't otherwise so as to drive the story. This ep has multiple twists and turns with suspense, but best of all it also brings to the screen some of the things about the Navy (and military overall) that should make everyone proud of what our all volunteer service can do. I'd also like to comment regarding some people's issue regarding LGBT. Get over it. If it had been a straight couple, would the scene and plot line played out any differently? The answer is no. It would have happened the exact same way. We've know that she was gay since the first season and there's hardly been any mention of it through the first four seasons. So big whoop. When I served in the 80s there were gay guys. We knew it, trusted them just like anyone else, because we all had our faces in the clay.

Stop Pushing an Agenda
docespino1 October 2018
I have been a fan of this show from the first episode. Being a navy veteran I overlooked allot of the inconsistencies because the show was still all around entertaining, but one thing I hate the absolute most is the fact that this show has all of a sudden felt the need to push the idea of a LGBT representation with a certain commander. Her first scene in this episode was completely unnecessary and Served no purpose to the plot other than "she's a lesbian". I mean come on, you wouldn't lose so much of your fan base if you just stick to the main plot. Ship is awesome, nothing stops ship, don't mess with ship! At least you have a women in command of the Nathan James which in itself is rare and the representation of equality is rightfully due but all of a sudden commander what's her face a "B" list charecter is gay and we're really going to make sure the fans know it?.....come on! At least be creative about it.

Getting worse through the episodes.
cruise0120 May 2019
The Last Ship Episode 5.04 (2.5 out of 5 stars).

This episode is so far the boring one in the series. Chandler's haunting visions and desperate needs to get the bad guy even putting their own crew at risk. This episode literally has Nathan James battleship firing blindly at the bad guys ship. While avoiding there attacks. We don't even see an enemy besides incoming missiles. The action is terrible. Characters makes stupid decisions. The plot throws in a little twist in the end with a specific character. But the direction is so dull to even care.

Dumb

The first four seasons were pretty good but season five has been awful so far. The story-line has been incredibly stupid & predictable.

No money left?

Warning: Spoilers
I have watched all the series and today it made a dive to the grave. The Nathan James was in a battle with three ships who we never got to se, the whole sene was in the studio with no action war so ever. There was a couple of senes where the torpedoes where fired but that was all. They didn't even show how the torpedo stuck the other ship. If this keeps up it would be better to sink the Nathan James and kill the show!! Season 1 was great and season 2-4 was ok, this isn't remotely in the same ballpark. Eric Palmer
