Amazing but I wouldn't recommend

The story is riveting, the acting is amazing, the visuals are stunning. The problem is it was never finished. If you know anything about Asian dramas you know that they don't do weekly dramas. They do large mini series. I've read that the director blew the budget for the first season and that's why the second was never done. You will frustrate yourself so much if you start so I wouldn't. However you can search for a translation of the book it's based off of. Though I warn you I never found it.
Watch at your own risk

The first thing you'd notice in Tribes and Empires is the lavishness of the set and costumes, and effects. Never before I've seen such quality in Chinese TV series.
Cinematography is great. Cast and acting is superb. You will get carried away with their emotions, particularly courage, loyalty, despair and jealousy.
The main storyline is highly engaging because of your emotional investment in the main leads, but the side stories tends to drag on with not so important character/storyline that didn't even make a difference in the end.
What this series suffer the most is the conclusion, of which there is none. It will take you on a gentle, beautiful, heartwrenching ride, and then leave you hanging mercilessly, hoping someday there will be season two.
So, beware, watch at your own risk.
Is it worth the risk? I knew what was ahead and watched anyway. I did not regret it. If you can read Chinese you can read the novel. I prefer to make up season two in my head.

A 'wow' around every corner.

This drama is beautiful in a visual and an emotional way. The outcomes are unpredictable and the episodes are filled with content. It doesn't feel slow paced at all. There is no clear good and bad side. Its very emotional, you going to want to laugh with them and cry with them.
I highly recommend this series.

Very captivating but bizarre. There´s something...

The problem with this series is that it is very disconcerting at first. It's as if the screenwriter had lost direction in just the first few chapters. Something in the first chapters suggests that they were not entirely clear where the hell all the other threads of the story were going to go. But once you go through these first five chapters everything seems to fall into place, and it is very captivating and intriguing. But what can be said despite everything is that the result is a rather bizarre series. And as often happens, Chinese producers walk away and leave you wondering if the project continues or is already dead or what the hell is wrong!
(Have you ever felt when you are bathing, you are happy singing and scrubbing your body, but when it comes to rinsing, the water runs out!)
I have tried to send a two-word letter to the writer but have not been successful in finding his postal address.
However, it is one of the most interesting and perhaps conceptually different series that I have seen.

The worst TV series I've watched!

OK. I watched this one because a lot of people were crazy by it. So, I watched two episodes first. One thing that let me down firstly was the number of episodes. It's 75 episodes. That's freaking long for a TV series, especially when you are paying a very high cost to download episodes. So, yes, I wasn't interested anymore as soon as I saw the number of episodes. But I watched it anyway because people were saying it's a great one.
When I watched the first episode, I knew why people were liking it. There are a lot of kissing scenes. I mean people are watching shows and giving high ratings if only there are kissing scenes in the episodes? Do Asians really consider their shows will get high ratings if only there are kissing scenes? I'm so tired of them. The main point of a great TV shows is not that. A great story and the acceptable speed are the importance of a good show. As soon as I watched the first episode, I knew why this show had 75 episodes. The speed is so slow. And also the plot isn't clear in the first episode. Unlike, three lives three worlds ten miles of peach blossom, this one is totally boring. I felt like building the plot was taking forever. I tried to be patient, but after I finished second episode, I couldn't anymore. So, in the end, I decided to give it up.
Although I don't know why this TV show is getting high ratings right here on IMDB and many people are loving this, as for me, it's not making the watchable TV show. So, it's not even deserving a star from me. Thus, I don't give a star.

There are no clues is if a season 2 will be aired or even being filmed. Viewers may have to formulate an imaginary ending or what do we know....maybe the continuation will come out in 2 years just like George Lucas's Star Wars....LOL
Where's the ending!
