When Jess, Nick and Schmidt go to Solvang, they encounter several different Danish things: Jess drinks akvavit, which is a danish liquor, while Schmidt eats æbleskiver, a Danish pastry traditionally eaten at Christmas. While locked in the cellar, the trio try to turn the dørhåndtag, which is the Danish word for doorknob. All the boxes in the cellar are labeled "Hyggelig Bornholmer Akvavit", which loosely translates to "Cozy Bornholmer akvavit", with Bornholm being a Danish island.
