- Howard and Bernadette have a hard time leaving Halley in daycare when Bernadette returns to work. Bert introduces the gang to his new girlfriend.
- Bert announces that he has met who he believes is his soul mate, a woman named Rebecca. The gang invites Bert and Rebecca to dinner at Leonard and Penny's so that they can all get to know this important person in Bert's life. Upon meeting her, they all slowly come to the belief that she is a gold-digger, she only after his money. Beyond what Bert decides to do with the information, the gang discusses what are acceptable and unacceptable reasons for wanting to be with another person as a mate. Meanwhile, it's getting closer to the day that Bernadette will be returning to work, when Halley will be placed in baby day care. Despite Bernadette's apprehension about leaving Halley, one comforting factor is that the day care is at Cal-Tech where Howard has easy access. Only the first day of leaving Halley at day care will show if the collective of Bernadette, Howard and even Stuart are ready to leave her with someone other than the three of them. And Sheldon and Amy host a special edition of "Fun with Flags". They believe that one good turn deserves another.—Huggo
- Sheldon and Amy are presenting a live broadcast of Fun with Flags, with Howard and Raj again providing the music. This FWF episode is a retrospective which starts with interviews with Leonard and Penny. Leonard can't remember when it started, while Penny tells him to find someone more interested in flag trivia. Opening up the phone lines, no one calls for a while until they hear from Bert, the geologist. He has a new girlfriend. Sheldon hangs up on him, but he calls back to let them know that her name is Rebecca (April Bowlby).
Howard, Bernadette, Halley and Stuart are heading for an outing at the zoo, a couple of days before Bernadette has to join her office after her maternity leave. Bernadette is checking on the website for Halley's daycare center and is worried about leaving her with strangers even though it is very near Howard at Caltech.
At the cafeteria, Sheldon wants to tell physicist jokes since Howard wasn't there though Leonard and Raj aren't interested. Bert stops by and Leonard brings up his new girlfriend. They get invited over for dinner with the gang, which is fine with Sheldon after he learns that she isn't a geologist.
At the sloth exhibit at the zoo, Bernadette learns that they take care of their young for a whole year, while she's returning to work after only four months.
At apartment 4A, the gang set up dinner as Bert arrives with pretty Rebecca. She is introduced and Sheldon says that Rebecca is much younger and more attractive than Bert thus copying Leonard and Penny.
Stuart is making dinner in the kitchen as Bernadette arrives finally getting Halley down to sleep. Howard suggests that if she's not ready to go back to work, they could work something out. Bernadette says that she'll be fine. Stuart adds that it'll be good for Halley since they wouldn't want her to turn out like Mama's Boy Howard.
Back in 4A, they are talking to Rebecca as Sheldon returns from a time-out (Amy makes Sheldon stand in the staircase making inappropriate comments about how Rebecca is way hotter than Bert and out of his league). Sheldon apologizes. Rebecca and Bert met on a geology dating site. He did much better after he added that he won a substantial cash grant of $625,000 from the MacArthur foundation. Rebecca almost immediately contacted him. With Rebecca gone, Amy asks Bert if he's worried she's only with him for his money. Bert hopes so since he bought her a huge 80 inch flat-screen TV on their first date. Sheldon is worried that Bert didn't even measure her walls before buying the huge TV for her
The whole Wolowitz household starts crying as they get Halley ready for her first day at daycare.
Back in the university cafeteria, where Sheldon tells them another physics joke, Bert joins them. Raj apologizes for last night. Bert realized that he shouldn't use his money to find love. He might break up with Rebecca and hold out for a hot blonde who loves him for himself.
At the daycare center, Howard first shows Bernadette on a video call that Halley is settling in fine. He watches Halley until he jumps as Stuart sneaks up on him. Knowing that it would be weird to stand there all day, Stuart and Howard decide to take her to the aquarium instead. Stuart compares daycare to a prison and yells that they are going to bust Halley out of there.
As the gang has dinner, Sheldon is reading comments on their "Fun with Flags" retrospective. One comments that the episode was the longest yet, and the duo miss the sarcasm and think that it was genuine praise for their work. Bert joins them, says he misses Rebecca and doesn't know why he listened to them. Penny tells him that he is a good guy and deserves someone interested in him instead of his money. Leonard says that he can always call her, but she is not returning his messages. Bert is not happy since he bought her the new phone.
Back at home, Stuart and Howard arrive with Halley and insist they've just come from daycare, but the day care personnel called Bernadette when they took Halley out. Bert decides to buy Rebecca a jet ski to win her back and it works.
