When it comes to the 4th, there are traditions that are truly American, the tour de France, Wimbledon, Nathan's hot dog eating contest, baseball, Independence Day movie, and of course, the annual prime time fireworks spectacular broadcast live on NBC for two hours than cut down to the second hour for west coast viewers. While the audio mix is not as loud as being there and the images not as real, watching it in high def and surround sound makes you feel like you're there along with the music, dance, and occasional stories of freedom. There's also patriotic commercials, mostly for Macy's, that accompany this show.
