Here we have the award-winning music video for the Madonna song "Take a Bow" from 1994, so this one has its 25th anniversary soon. Director Haussman and male lead Muñoz worked with Madonna on other occasions too, nut just these 4.5 minutes. Bull fighting and the protagonist's unrequited love and need for attention are key components in this one and of course as always that one is played by Madonna herself with blonde hair this time and in her mid-30s. I think it was stylistically interesting to see this one and there was a moment here and there that I liked a bit such as the very final shot for example, but the try hard religious reference depicting Jesus as well as my strong disagreement with the concept of bull fighting make it impossible for me to appreciate the visual side here and the audio, i.e. the song, was also not bad, but nowhere near the best (or even the better) Madonna has to offer. So the attempt to be controversial are certainly there, but a real level of quality in terms of music or filmmaking has not been reached here. "Take a Bow" gets a thumbs-down from me. Close call as it gets better the longer it goes, but I don't recommend checking it out.
