The Show Ended Here
msruffner-8158331 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If a fan of the show from Season 1, the show ended here. The departure of Sophia Bush (which could have been avoided via competent management by NBC or the production company), was a killing blow. It was made worse by the decision in the next season to kill other key characters, making Chicago PD the final victim in Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead's "Chicago" franchise of empty, shallow, rageaholic pretty boys. The whole trilogy is light-years away from excellence of the NY-centered shows. Here, the writers room has the creativity of a high school freshman English class, where every story outline starts with, "Which of the characters or their family members should be killed or kidnapped THIS week." While Jason Beghe and cast member LeRoyce Hawkins (Atwater) have been given some room for character growth, the remainder of the cast/characters are stuck in a time-locked immaturity.

This episode was an interesting end for Bush (Det. Lindsay), who was a strong female lead for the show. And mother Markie Post, brought both pathos and humor to a character who somehow dodged getting wet when running through torrential storms of her own creation. Here, she ran out of wiggle room.

Bush and Beghe's final good-bye honored their characters and is a reminder that some goodbye's are real, although the emotion might be a product of good acting.

Warning: Spoilers
I knew in general terms how it had to turn out. I expected to hate this episode. It was nothing like I expected. I definitely didn't hate most of the journey even though I hated the result. Lindsay was my favorite character. In some ways this was worse than killing her. In a way, they did kill her - witness the first two scenes of the next episode (season 5 # 1).

Regarding Bunny, I hope she is done with this show. She should be.

This really didn't work for me.

I've never found the character of Bunny sympathetic, not *once* has she taken any responsibility for her own actions. She's screwed Erin over so many times as a result.

I know Sophia Bush didn't leave in the happiest of circumstances, but I found the goodbye with Voight pretty lacking. Leaving Jay without a final goodbye was gutless.

I don't know if I'll miss her as much as Antonio, but she was a good character.

writers turned to into pretzels to devise a Bush exit

Warning: Spoilers
The "she's my mother" mantra by Lindsay got very-old considering the Bunny character did not possess one iota of motherhood as most of us know it to be.

Coming in late and after reading about why the character Lindsay was written off the show -- due to the actress' unhappiness w/ working in cold weather/Chicago and w/ some of the other actors' reported (by her) behaviors -- it's "be careful what you ask for" in signing a seven-year contract. The exit is quite convoluted and letting bunny off entirely is . . . awful to this viewer. But glad both characters are gone as Upton will make a strong team player, much less damaged than Lindsay. It's tough enough to view the damaged figures who routinely are shown to break the law, but to have main characters be so damaged as Lindsay is makes for tough viewing.

I like Al and Kim and Trudy and Adam and Jay and now Hailey. With these principals I can continue to watch.

I am glad she's gone. That breathy whispering drove me nuts. How are we meant to take her seriously as a hard cop when she doesn't even use her voice. It's ridiculous. I actually started muting her. Onward
