Inspiring and emotional

Waking the Sleeping Giant revisits the 2016 election and its run up and brings us the stories behind the scenes. The film portrays not only the people working to build the progressive movement, but also their experiences and motivations, so that you see them as genuine and with more understanding on why they are doing what they do.

The film also explores the discontent and the conflict that was part of the nomination battles and discusses the progressive take on where the country is headed and what forces are in play.

The stories are well told, so that you truly hope and feel for the characters' successes, and empathize with their pain and frustration. And in the end, you also are left with an additional lesson - the we are a democracy and that we NEED to participate to make our voices heard. It inspires the viewer to get involved and to be heard, loud and clear.

And Where We Go From Here...

Waking The Sleeping Giant shows the run-up to the 2016 election - showing all the players and how they fared, especially Bernie Sanders. But it does more than that, it shows us a deep root of people willing to start a movement - creating a wave that will hopefully crest in 2020.

The filmmakers take their time to weave together incredible stories of hope, strife and pain to show that a movement must start at a grass roots level. I guarantee that after watching this film anyone sitting on the 'my vote doesn't count' fence will soon realize that ever vote counts.

A wonderful film that left me inspired.
