Sex & Nudity

  • A boy can be seen kissing a girl (not a makeout, and very mild). On efosO.
  • Multiple sexual jokes and references.
  • A woman's not detailed nude silhouette is briefly seen as she takes a shower.
  • A teen has tissues and lotion on his desk, which he then throws away.
  • A character mentions how they had sex with another character by the water of a lake house.
  • Two characters are implied to be having passionate sex via objects flying around a room. When another character walks in on them, they are shown sitting next to each other fully clothed before they can be caught in the act.
  • Women wear outfits that reveal cleavage, and their bottom.
  • Little to no innuendos.
  • A few mild refrences.
  • References on par as a sitcom.
  • A teen couple is seen making out for a few seconds nothing graphic as they are fully clothed.
  • Moderate.
  • Some characters are seen coming out of the showers in towels. No nudity shown.
  • 2 characters start having sex it only goes as far as to show them taking their shirts off. Before we see any further it cuts to an outside view and pants can be seen flying across the room. Some dialogue includes talk of "super sperm" and "you won't get to excited and crush me?"
  • William tells Mark that if he has a sock on their dorms door handle, it means he's having sex. Mark leaves and then comes back and finds the sock on the door handle. It's later revealed William forgot to take it off from the demonstration.
  • 2 characters start having sex, then the narrator awkwardly cuts back to 2 other characters who are also having sex and hand can be seen reaching for condoms. The narrator cuts back to the original 2 characters having sex awkwardly but decides to focus on the cat who proceeds to lick its self. Moaning and bed creaking can be heard coming from the other room.
  • Atom Eve's outfit is somewhat revealing. It's skin tight on the top, on the bottom she is wearing short underwear, we see her bare buttocks. She wears this outfit frequently.
  • Doc Seismic comments on Atom Eve's outfit.
  • Atom Eve attempts to visit Mark, but she sees Mark and Amber making out through the window.
  • Eve attempts to kiss Mark, and gives a slight moan. But Mark leaves before she could do it, Mark not knowing she tried to.

Violence & Gore

  • There is frequent graphic, gory, and brutal violence involving superhuman (or maybe superhero) characters. People are killed in all violent ways, such as decapitation, disembowelment, explosions, crushing, etc. All of the show's violence is taken completely seriously and it is not played for laughs whatsoever.
  • Blood and guts are sprayed on-screen whenever characters are either hit or killed.
  • Invincible is an extremely gory and brutally violent animated show. Being an incredibly faithful adaptation of the comic series of the same name, the violence is EXTREMELY graphic and gory, with all displays and sorts of gore, gruesome deaths, and lots of extreme violence throughout that, despite not being omnipresent per se, it's still pretty consistent throughout each episode, making it that much more effective and disturbing.
  • The violence has a horrific tone to it, and it goes on par with a graphic horror movie.
  • The violence in this show is very graphic but it isn't glorified, instead of being played for horror.
  • As it goes on, the show becomes more and more violent, which is symbolized by the title card getting splashed in more blood throughout each episode.
  • There is a scene involving a train that is insanely gory and disturbing.
  • One thing that should be noticed here is that this adult cartoon is bloodier, gorier and even more graphically violent than the comic book series it's based on, which is saying a lot considering that the comic itself is extremely violent and gory. And while the whole show is animated, the violence overall is horrifyingly realistic and extremely gruesome.
  • The violence overall is similar to that of "Genocyber", "Berserk" and "Hellsing Ultimate", except far more brutal, more detailed and with more organs and intestines.
  • As already said before, the whole show is almost a direct adaptation of the comic books. The original "Invincible" comic is known for being incredibly violent and extremely bloody, with the brutality only increasing as the comic progresses, therefore it is expected to be the same with the show.
  • Season 2's title card continued the pattern of Season 1, which had more blood each episode. This time, it is entirely black with red text, and with a crack appearing before more and more appear until the background is blue with black text. This is confirming of much more violence and gore than the first season.
  • The whole show is way, way, WAY more violent and gory than most, if not all superhero media, being extremely grisly and gory and having relentless amounts of gruesome violence done against both human and alien victims. All of this is part to prove a point about the harsh realities of being a superhero, much like an anti-war film, and therefore it's never glorified, meaning this show should be viewed with caution.
  • Throughout the first half of season 2 there are occasional scenes of bloody violence. The most violent sequences happen within the very start of 2x1 and towards the end of 2x4, the rest of the episodes are moderate in comparison but are still very bloody and violent. However, it's a different story when it comes to the second half of season 2, which is much bloodier than not only season 2's first half, but also the first season, which is an insane feat.

Profanity

  • Most episodes have infrequent uses of "fuck" & "shit", coupled with some milder profanity, including "bitch", "dick", "ass", "damn" and "hell".
  • Uses of "fuck" get more frequent with each episode.
  • Most of the f-bombs are said by Rex Splode.
  • Infrequent strong coarse language, more-so later on in the series.
  • A few middle fingers.
  • The profanity gets increasingly more strong as the show progresses, but still the language is very tame when compared to most TV-MA related shows, especially many on Amazon Prime.
  • Around 35 uses of fuck in the entire show as of season 2 episode 4.
  • The show starts with having almost no profanity at all to having around 5-8 uses of fuck per episode at around midway through the first season.
  • The special episode "Atom Eve" has 1 use of fuck and a few uses of shit. The language is tamer than the series normal episodes.
  • Season 2 has a lot more profanity than the the first season. The mid-season finale has around 10-15 F-bombs.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Various characters are seen drinking whiskey, wine, or beer. Some of which are teenagers.
  • A few scenes show characters smoking.
  • A woman takes a green egg-shaped pill which transforms her into Green Ghost in the first episode.
  • A woman gets drunk and yells at her husband
  • No illegal drugs used.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Titan's backstory may be upsetting for some viewers.
  • As said before, there is one scene involving a train which is significantly more disturbing and gorier than all the other scenes.
  • The deaths may be disturbing for viewers.
  • The season finale is very emotional and disturbing.
  • Overall, the show has an incredibly dark and bleak tone.
  • This is easily one of the most violent TV shows ever created in recent years, and the fact that it's animated doesn't dissuade this in the slightest.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • A teen character gets out of a hospital bed revealing his butt crack in the opening of his hospital gown.
  • Rex cheating on Eve with with Dupli-Kate in a shower room. Nothing visual as we just hear Rex making out with 2 of Kates clones and see Eves reaction. We see Dupli-Kate (along with 2 of her clones) and Eve covered from above their breasts down to their thighs with towels and Rex covering his lower half with a towel.
  • Rex walks in on Dupli-Kate having sex with the Imortal in a scene that resembles him cheating on Eve.

Violence & Gore

  • Omni-Man kills the Guardians of the Globe in extremely gruesome ways: Red Rush has his skull crushed, Darkwing's head is smashed against the floor, Omni-Man's hand thrusts through Green Ghost's head, Aquarus' head is messily smashed with War Woman's mace, Martian Man's face is brutally ripped off, War Woman's neck is snapped 180 degrees, and The Immortal is punched through the stomach and then decapitated. This scene is extremely gory, brutal, and disturbing.
  • One of the Mauler Twins uses his brother's body as a shield against a laser weapon. The Mauler Twin whose body was used as guard is shown chopped and broken. His body is also shown being hacked apart into gory pieces with lots and lots of blood spraying out. Graphic.
  • Red Rush gets his skull very brutally crushed by Omni-Man. It gets more intense by the millisecond; at first his goggles break, then one of his eyes pop out, then his entire head explodes into a gory mess. This is fully on-screen and extremely bloody and gory.
  • Monster Girl gets her head brutally crushed with two sharp rocks by Battle Beast. This is off-screen, but we see some of her blood splatter into Battle Beast's face, and her body is seen later, with her head being extremely bloody with some skin coming off and her skull shown in grisly detail. Her body turns back into a girl, and Robot holds her unconscious body. Disturbing.
  • Battle Beast beats Black Samson by snapping his hand from his wrist and smashing him against the floors and walls. Very graphic and brutal.
  • Invincible is hit in the chest by Battle Beast with his metal club. His chest splits open with tons of blood spurting out in incredibly graphic detail.
  • Titan bursts into a warehouse and proceeds to kills nearly everyone in it. This is an extremely brutal scene, with the most gory death happening when he throws a pistol at someone's head, which caves in his skull and reduces it to a mess of blood, brains, and bones. The victim stands still for a second or two, before finally collapsing dead to the ground with much blood offscreen.
  • The first half of the eighth episode contains non-stop extreme levels of gore, with heads crushed, people chopped to pieces, people exploding, etc. All with insane amounts of blood, intestines and organs literally spraying everywhere. The most notable scene is when Omni-Man brutally slams Invincible into a speeding subway train, obliterating everyone inside in extremely gory fashion with blood, limbs, and guts flying everywhere.
  • Omni-Man crushes an innocent pilot's head, causing it to explode into a gory mess. Blood and brain matter sprays all over Invincible, shocking him.
  • Omni-man goes through a portal and into an alien planet, where he proceeds to destroy the population. He starts by slamming the alien leader through the buildings and walls until he's smashed into pieces, his disembodied head then being crushed by Omni-Man's hand. Eventually, Nolan zips through buildings, destroying them, and a shot shows city light as seen from outer space dissipating and a space station getting destroyed too.
  • In season 2, Dupli-kate is slammed into a clone of herself and both bodies are crushed together, popping her eyes out and spraying blood everywhere. This is particularly upsetting because she is killed presumable for good, and her prime version was killed along with all her clones. Seconds later, Shrinking Rae is attacked by the same villain when he swallows her whole and crushes her, squirting blood out of his mouth and saying "Yum". We later find out she survived the initial crushing.
  • In a fit of murderous rage, Invincible very brutally beats Angstrom Levy to death in a scene that resembles his father's brutal beating of him. This is by far the most graphic scene in the whole series, and it's extraordinarily gory, brutal and extremely disturbing and goes on for a while until Invincible is completely drenched in blood, his arms are caked in flesh and brain matter, and the whole area is left painted red. Invincible then realizes in horror what he's done shortly afterwards.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a scene at the end of Episode 1 where Omni-Man murders seven superheroes brutally. This scene is intense and disturbing (also seen in the "Violence & Gore" section).
  • Titan chokes a mob boss while dangling him in the air. He tells him to deliver a message to his boss, and just as the audience thinks he is going to let him go, he snaps his neck. He then turns around and tells another person that the message was for him to deliver. The scene is very tense.
  • The fact that Mark has to fight his dad will undoubtedly be upsetting to some viewers.
  • Omni-man brutally murders every member of the guardians of the globe, a group of super heroes. It is very violent and intense, and the music stops after Omni-man kills red rush by crushing his skull, both of which just add to how disturbing this scene is.
  • Omni-Man (Invincible's father) is pretty unsettling, being a ruthless warmonger that forms part of an alien species known as the Viltrumites (genocidal galactic conquerors) who has come to Earth to conquer it, which is what makes the revelation of his true colors that are much more shocking.
  • Omni-Man has his eyes almost gouged out by the Immortal with some blood spurting out. However, it only succeeds in poking them due to Omni-Man's Viltrumite nature, resulting in him having completely red bloodshot eyes. It gives him a incredibly terrifying and demonic look, and his eyes stay red throughout episode 8. Very disturbing and frightening.
  • One of the most terrifying aspects about this show is the fact that all characters have no plot armor, meaning that any character can and will die incredibly graphically onscreen in extremely gruesome ways in the blink of an eye. Even worse, some people might've liked them or had them as their favorites which makes it even more upsetting. It's absolutely stomach-churning and emotionally intense, and is not for the faint of heart.
  • In the season 1 finale, Omni-man wants to prove a point to Mark and does so by holding him in front of an incoming subway train travelling at high speed that drives through them and kills an incalculable amount of people. This scene is very dark, very violent and what many viewers will find frightening or unsettling.
  • Shrinking Rae is severely injured via being devoured by a Lizard man. She expands in his neck and is crushed while cracking and screaming are heard for ~30 secs. Disturbing and frightening.
