- Fatima Asif: I don't understand. They kill my brother and then they put me in prison.
- Gillian Noxolo: It's not prison. Believe me, prison's better than this. In prison you know when you're gonna get out.
- Bishop Rufus Chambers: I can't have a priest who openly sleeps with a girlfriend who's an illegal immigrant and who's found stoned in the street. I can't have that.
- Jane Oliver: So what do you want me to do?
- Peter Westbourne: Berna, they do a very good bacon sandwich.
- Berna Yalaz: No, thank you.
- Peter Westbourne: No really, it's on me. Not religious, are you?
- Berna Yalaz: No, not me, Peter. I'm secular. Secular, but not hungry.
- [first lines]
- Berna Yalaz: [driving, on hands-free mobile] Hello?
- Peter Westbourne: [voiceover] Yes, as agreed, I'll be there in ten minutes.
- Berna Yalaz: Okay, give me fifteen.
- Jill Leong: What's your reaction to the overnight news that Asif wasn't in fact an asylum seeker?
- David Mars: Okay, so he turned out to be an economic migrant, but that doesn't mean he wasn't entitled to the full protection of the law.
- Jill Leong: But it is different, isn't it?
- David Mars: Couldn't we just say he was a human being who was shot down on a British street? It doesn't matter where he came from. We really are turning into a nasty little country.
- Fatima Asif: I made a friend here called Gillian. I told her your name. She said Kip Glaspie great athlete.
- DI Kip Glaspie: I wouldn't say great.
- Fatima Asif: On television you fall on your back and bounce.
- DI Kip Glaspie: [nods slowly] It's famous footage because it's painful to watch. You hurt when you see it. Look, I'll show you. It's on my phone.
- Sports Announcer: [voiceover on Kip's video] And here comes Great Britain's Kip Glaspie from...
- Fatima Asif: [watching] Is that you?
- DI Kip Glaspie: It certainly is.
- Sports Announcer: [voiceover] And here she comes with the approach. And... Oh no, she is down! Oh my God, she's down! That has got to hurt. I think she might've bounced.
- Fatima Asif: [laughing] It's very funny.
- DI Kip Glaspie: I know.
- Fatima Asif: Why have it on your phone?
- DI Kip Glaspie: 'Cause, I don't know, it will always be something that happened to me.
- Linh Xuan Huy: In your country, everything's a deal. Who you know, what they can do for you. I'm not a beggar.
- Jane Oliver: It isn't begging, Linh, it's using the system.
- Linh Xuan Huy: What, you want to fix things with your old boyfriend?
- Jane Oliver: [laughing] He wasn't my boyfriend. We were on some committee together. We had some late nights, red wine. Too much self pity from both of us. That's all. He's a mess. It wasn't love.
- Linh Xuan Huy: [staring] I'd rather go home. I want to be legal.
- Jane Oliver: Am I allowed to say this? I'd like you to stay.
