System of a Down’s Serj Tankian channels a message of “unity and harmony” on his new song, “Amber,” which he sings in his native Armenian language.
“Amber” — which is pronounced “ahm-be’r” and means “clouds” in Armenian — is a plaintive folk song filled with piano, strings, and additional vocals from the celebrated Armenian singer Sevak Amroyan. The track also arrives with a music video, directed by Hrag Yedalian, that finds Tankian and Amroyan performing the song as a young boy (Darren Chilingirian) flips through a sketchbook with handwritten phrases...

Amber Heard will continue to fight a Virginia jury’s verdict by exploring an appeal, and is “absolutely not” able to pay the 10.4 million awarded to Johnny Depp for his defamation victory, her lawyer said Thursday on Today.
Host Savannah Guthrie asked Heard lawyer Elaine Charlson Bredehoft whether the “Aquaman” actress plans to appeal the stunning decision announced Wednesday.
“Oh, absolutely,” Bredehoft said. “And she has some excellent grounds for it.”

Bredehoft cited the U.K. version of the trial – which Depp lost – and a host of “evidentiary issues,” including items she said were “suppressed” from the U.S. trial, as reasons she believes an appeal could succeed. A court would first have to determine that Heard has a compelling reason to revisit the case before any appeal went forward.

The jury in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial has ruled in favour of Johnny Depp, finding that a Washington Post editorial that she wrote defamed her former husband. The jurors’ unanimous decision on Wednesday capped a seven-week trial in a Virginia courtroom that featured dozens of witnesses and experts weighing in on whether Depp was abusive to Heard – or vice versa – during their 15-month marriage. Depp was not present for the verdict and watched from the UK. Heard was in the courtroom as the verdict was read out

The verdict for the nearly seven-week defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has arrived. On Wednesday, a split verdict was delivered, with the jury finding both parties liable but Depp was awarded 10 million in compensatory damages and 5 million dollars in punitive damages. The jury awarded Heard 2 million in compensatory damages and nothing in punitive damages. Depp had sought 50 million in damages with Heard counter-suing for 100 million.
The consecutive “Yes” answers brought about many reactions playing off the repeated word.
Many approved of the jury’s ruling in Depp’s favor, particularly because of the way Heard went about shaping her angle of the story.
“Make no mistake – majority of the ppl supporting Depp do not think he’s an angel,” one user wrote. “But the mere fact that she went so hard with these ridiculous allegations and She acted like she was an angel; that’s the reason...

Amber Heard’s legal team took its turn giving closing statements Friday, with attorney Ben Rottenborn telling the jury that “Amber wins” even if there were no proof of the heinous abuses alleged in the six-week trial because the First Amendment protects her against Johnny Depp’s defamation claims.
Rottenborn opened his remarks by telling the jury the stakes of the case go well beyond its litigants.
“Think about the message they are sending to Amber, and victims of domestic abuse everywhere,” Rottenborn said. “If you didn’t take pictures, it didn’t happen, and if you did take pictures, they’re fake. … If you don’t seek medical attention, you’re lying. If you do seek medial attention, you’re crazy. … And if you’ve finally decided that enough is enough, you’re a gold-digger.
“Thats what they’re trying to get you, the jury, to be an accomplice to.

Amber Heard made a surprise appearance Thursday on the witness stand – the final testimony of the weeks-long trial – saying she suffers minute-by-minute harassment and daily trauma requiring special “rules” in her life to prevent triggering anxiety attacks.
Heard was called by her own legal team for a final plea to the jury. After enduring a grueling cross-examination, the judge dismissed most of the courtroom for the day, concluding testimony in the defamation trial. Closing arguments were to begin first thing Friday.
Heard was asked by her attorney about what it’s been like going through the ordeal – a question Depp’s lawyers had asked the “Pirates” actor during his surprise appearance just the day before. With Heard’s return, both parties have now taken the stand for a second and final time.
“I am harassed, threatened, humiliated … every single day,” Heard said, fighting through tears. “People want to kill me and they tell me so.

2nd Update, 12:07 Pm Pt: Facing cross examination on his second stint on the stand, Johnny Depp took once last chance to swing back against an abundance of explicit and vile text message attacking Amber Heard, past lawsuits, and allegations of abuse.
“Suddenly, I’m scum,” the fired Fantastic Beasts star told the Virginia courtroom of his response several years ago to domestic abuse claims by the Aquaman star. “I was Charles Manson, I was the worst thing on Earth. It kept coming, it was a non-stop fire.”
“Never” said Depp in his final statement on the stand when asked if he ever abused Heard.
Occasionally facile and clearly confident , the rebuttal witness for his own 50 million defamation trial against Heard faced a grilling in the Fairfax County Courthouse from the Aquaman star’s attorneys Wednesday. With Heard’s team having lost traction over the last week, the back and...

Amber Heard’s attorneys rested their case Tuesday, opening the door for Johnny Depp’s legal team to call a rebuttal witness who cast doubt on Heard’s likeability and star power.
Before entertainment attorney and Hollywood “dealmaker” Richard Marks took the stand, Depp’s lawyers argued to have Heard’s 100 million counterclaim for defamation dismissed. Judge Penney Azcarate denied the motion and ruled the jury should decide, before the proceedings continued.
Marks, who testified earlier in the defamation trial, said Depp’s lawyers asked him to analyze Monday’s testimony from “entertainment industry consultant” and producer Kathryn Arnold.

After Johnny Depp’s name previously appeared on today’s witness list for ex-wife Amber Heard’s defense team, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor won’t be returning to the stand after all, TheWrap has learned.
“Calling Depp back to the stand would be as relevant to us as a bicycle to a fish,” a source close to Heard said Monday afternoon, explaining the decision. “Everything Depp has testified up to this point has been irrelevant to the heart of this case, and there’s no reason to believe it would be any different now.”
The actor had been listed as the third defense witness of the day in his defamation trial against Heard, before the plan changed.

Johnny Depp’s own behavior – no-shows, lateness, daily intoxication – caused his career to suffer, making it “far more complicated” to represent him in the years before his troubles with ex-wife Amber Heard became public, his former talent agent testified Thursday in a videotaped deposition.
Tracy Jacobs said she represented Depp for 30 years at ICM Partners and United Talent Agency before she was fired in 2016. Jacobs said she doesn’t know why Depp let her go.
“All I know is he terminated essentially everyone in his life, so I was along for the ride, I guess,” she said.

Getting back into the first-time host groove, this week’s “Saturday Night Live” brought in “Only Murders in the Building’s” Selena Gomez to do the honors.
Host: Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez’s monologue was quite charming, and by the end she had the live audience eating out the palm of her hand as she sang the “Barney” theme song. Seriously. She even bust out a solid Miley Cyrus impression, making for the first of two great “accent” moments in the episode from her. (The other was in “Irish Play.”)
Then after revealing the advice she got from her legendary co-stars and friends Steve Martin and Martin Short, Gomez set out to do what all “SNL” cast members hope the host will do: She tried to find romance. While the live audience definitely seemed to want her to end up with Punkie Johnson, sadly, that was not what the sketch “Intuition” ended up being about.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been established as the biggest and most popular franchise in the business for a long time now, and one of the things that make the movies so re-watchable are the sense of familiarity and emotional connection that audiences around the world have with the characters, as well as the small background details and Easter Eggs that can reveal something new on every repeat viewing.
