"The Lonely Island Feat. Rihanna: Shy Ronnie 2 - Ronnie & Clyde" is a fairly long title for a really short film, even if this one is slightly longer than the first Shy Ronnie from a year earlier, but it is still under the 3-minute mark. Again Akiva Shaffer directs and Rihanna reunites with Andy Samberg as the two rob a bank this time. I guess this idea must have come to their minds after the play on words "Ronnie and Clyde", so yeah you can imagine yourself how good a film is that only relies on its title. Don't be fooled by the imdb rating and the view count on Youtube. I personally would say that the first one was already really bad, but this one is even more. They are recycling the same jokes, just at a different locations admittedly and that he starts rapping suddenly and not just mumbling when Rihanna is out wasn't funny the first time either. Rihanna's singing at the beginning is okay, but when she just talks to Ronnie while still singing, it is pretty painful to watch, probably even more cringeworthy than Ronnie's mumbling. But yeah what can I say. I have never liked Andy Samberg one bit and I am not surprised at all that as a consequence I am also not seeing any creativity or memorable components in this short film we got here. Glad it was this short, so it was over quickly, but sucked to see Jon Hamm in here during his Mad Men prime and he should have known better than to appear in garbage like this, even if he is gone as quickly as he shows up. So big thumbs-down from me. SNL at its worst. Highly not recommended and you must be a huge Rihanna fanboy/girl I think to appreciate this one.
