To be completely honest, I totally prefer the United States music video of this song to the European one. It's not because I consider the European video "too dark" or anything like that, I simply don't find it to be particularly memorable.
Now, this version has a completely different take, feeling far more whimsical, as something straight out of a fairy tale (Even having a little nod to The Wizard of Oz at its very end). I think it fits much better to the overall tone of the song than the "gritty" (?) European version.
In many ways, it feels like a perfect companion piece for the Don't Panic music video, also directed by Tim Hope.
