Navagraha: Darshan's Dark Triumph Shines in this Riveting Heist Drama
Vashista-Bhat29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Navagraha" is the Greatest Film in Darshan's career. The film's plot revolves around a group of thieves who plot to steal the Golden 'Ambaari' from the Mysore Palace. However, their plan begins to crumble when a police officer discovers their ploy.

Darshan shines in negative role, and audience will remember Thoogudeepa Srinivas, Darshan's father, who was popular playing negative roles. The sons of famous veterans of the past also play negative role, and their performance is also very good. Darshan's character does not show Heroism in this Film which might not go well with some Darshan fans who expect his hands and legs to do the talking like he does in most of his Films, but Darshan makes it up with his performance. This actually not a negative point. I mentioned this only because fans should re-evaluate their critique in this regard.

The Script of this Film is based on Vishnuvardhan's 1981 Kannada Film, "Maha Prachandaru", which itself was based on the novel "Vigraha Choraru" by Vijay Sasanur. Dinakar Thoogudeepa's Screenplay was much better than the Vishnuvardhan Film in the sense that story is more engaging in this Film, and narration pace is brisk.

Dinakar Thoogudeepa's Direction is very good. The music, composed by V. Harikrishna features some good songs, enhancing the value to the Film. "Navagraha" conveys the message that one should not steal anything related to the Divine. This is surely a must-watch.

My Rating: 9/10 Verdict: Outstanding.
