- Ben Pownall: [Ryn just kissed him] Okay, so that just happened.
- Maddie Bishop: I got one the other day.
- [Ben raises a quizzical eyebrow]
- Helen Hawkins: Where did you go last night? You and your sister have the same mysterious habits.
- [met with only silence]
- Helen Hawkins: She's a bit chattier, though.
- ['Donna' mermaid-hisses at her]
- Helen Hawkins: You don't like it here, I know.
- Donna: Ryn!
- Helen Hawkins: You want to see her? I can arrange that! Maybe you can talk some sense to her.
- Helen Hawkins: Hi.
- Maddie Bishop: Hi. Thanks for the call. How did she end up here?
- Helen Hawkins: I went out and found her.
- Maddie Bishop: What is up with you and them?
- Helen Hawkins: Well, maybe they sense my empathy. The perpetual outsider.
- Maddie Bishop: How do you know so much about them? There's something you're not telling us!
- Helen Hawkins: [with laughter in her voice] Oh, there's a lot I'm not telling you.
- Maddie Bishop: Yeah? About what?
- Xander McClure: [re Decker] You gotta ask yourself why? I mean, *why* is he here in Bristol Cove? I mean, what's he doing? Here's my, uh, crazy / not so crazy answer: Decker is here... because the *mermaid*... is here.
- Maddie Bishop: You think he knows she's here?
- Ben Pownall: He's got to, right? He's connected to the over-fishing too. Maddie... He's not gonna stop until he finds her.
- Maddie Bishop: [clear that something more is bothering Ben] Ben... what is it?
- Ben Pownall: [sighs] Decker asked Chris... if she sang to him.
- Maddie Bishop: Sang?
- Ben Pownall: Something they do. You know the myths about the siren songs, right? Well, it's not a song... exactly. It gets inside your head. I don't know, maybe it's some kinda defence mechanism.
- Maddie Bishop: How do you know all this?
- Ben Pownall: Because Ryn... did it to me... the night we met.
- Maddie Bishop: And you're just telling me this now?
- Ben Pownall: I'm sorry. It was...
- [sighs]
- Ben Pownall: I wasn't sure what it meant. And I'm still not.
- Maddie Bishop: What did it feel like?
- Ben Pownall: Honestly... Like a drug! Like, I can't explain it, it's like something I need!
