Read the title here "The Lonely Island Feat. Michael Bolton: Jack Sparrow" and you find the names of the band and singer involved with this project and also the name of the song. it runs for minimally over 3 minutes, so it is just as short as basically all the other TLI releases. This came out back in 2011, so it is not among their oldest or newest works and the proximity to SNL is once again obvious. Michael Bolton randomly enters the ring here speaking about his love and appreciation for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The Lonely Island guys are only initially amused and then they give us their routine of (not so) subtly implying that they find Bolton's take on Captain jack Sparrow rather embarrassing. The maybe most shocking thing is that this idea felt repetitive so quickly and not even because it is a 3-minute movie, but after 2 minutes already and the makers realized it, so they had Bolton randomly appear as rushed in versions of Forrest Gump, Tony Montana and Erin Brockovich. It may look somewhat funny perhaps, but it is a prime example of quantity over quality. Add to that that the guys' rapping felt pretty embarrassing (and not just pseudo embarrassing), so good it was over halfway into the film, but it still stays an extremely disappointing watch and one of the worse TLI videos. Bolton's musical involvement (and I am saying this as somebody who has zero connection with him) kept it from becoming a total failure and TLI's worst perhaps. Nonetheless, you really wanna skip the watch here.
