After breaking her relationship with American singer Justin Timberlake in 2002, Spears became friends with vocalist Annette Artani. They started writing songs together in Spears' house in Los Angeles, and then moved to Lombardy, where "Everytime" was written. Spears composed music and wrote words together with Artani.
"Everytime" is a pop ballad with aspirated vocals. Lyrically, she is praying for forgiveness for the unintentional infliction of pain on the former lover.
William Shaw of Blender said that although "Everytime" did not become a grand ballad, the words are "definitely sincere."
"Everytime" - is the song of American singer Britney Spears from her fourth studio album In the Zone (2003).
The song was written as a response to Timberlake's 2002 song "Cry Me a River".
