What we do!

This was a great episode of different interests and morals clashing! This starts to become less black and white and more Grey in terms of Barry and his choices!

So far I have really enjoyed this show and the story of Barry! This has becomr a tale of how difficult it is to escape your past and change your life! How difficult it can be to pursue your interests! This also shows Fuches power and level of influence and how manipulative he is!

I also enjoyed how the acting class and the play Macbeth fits into the episode when it comes to murder, moral and whether to just do what you are told.. or not!

Thrilling in what could be one of if not the best episode of Barry yet.

This episode was a doozy. If this episode doesn't remind of you of Breaking Bad/The Sopranos I don't know what does. In the scene where Barry lowkey exposes himself as the killer reminded when Walter White told Hank in Season 5 of Breaking Bad "You got me". It's the same dynamic and it is honestly phenomenal cause Bill Hader's acting is so believable and none of his classmates/teacher realize it. The directing and wide angles from the cinematography in some of its third act scenes are phenomenal. For those of you saying the first few episodes were repetitive prepare for a more exciting episode.

Showing the Other Face of Murderers

It's an amazing episode because it shows that even if you do the second most violent thing in the world, the first thing is torture, you can change yourself by changing your environment.

Great job HBO!!

1. Barry gets grilled 2. Barry goes on a raid 3. Barry doesn't kill Taylor

A little confession to make... I actually binged the entirety of Barry up to the end of season 3 and didn't write any reviews. I am basing these off of on retrospective memory and notes I made while watching the show.

This episode was really important because we learn more about Barry's state of mind through the connection with Macbeth. While we learn later about what happened to Barry, Barry just seems like he's been following orders and shutting up up to this point. He questions if he has any free will. He's guilty to some extent but he also knows there was no choice and he's trying to correct his life but there's all these consequences that keep happening.

Barry is also just a depressed loner who has social issues, especially with how she treated Sally but he's extremely skilled at what he does. The whole infatuation with Sally and him imagining a sort of a normal life is hilarious.

Barry also goes on a raid with Taylor, which is successful and he ends up not taking Taylor's life despite Fuches' orders. This is a big change for him as it's one of the first time he refused direct orders from him.

This episode was also a delight seeing Gene and Janice develop a relationship, which is why Janice stays on the case. Little quarrel between Barry, Fuches, Pazar and Hank is absolutely hilarious. Seeing how the acting class is all in a bubble and not realizing childish things about themselves was funny too. This episode was also directed by Hiro Murai!! I did get some Atlanta vibes from this one with frequent time jump sequences. It's good to see him on both shows I love.

Overall, I am officially in love with this show. It has not missed at all so far. It's got Dexter vibes with much more comedy.

Hiro Murai's directing
safenoe10 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Hiro Murai does a masterclass of directing this fifth episode of Barry. Janice and Gene do the beast with two backs, which was kind of inevitable and cuts through the racial divide for sure. Barry has its dark side for sure, so it's always wonderful to see D'Arcy Carden in a Barry episode.

My Reaction / Review for Barry Season 1 Episode 5 ''Chapter Four: Do Your Job'' (S1. E5): Episode 4 was good and i gave it a rating of 8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. So that army dude wants to kill the Bolivians with Barry? That's not good. Seems like Barry is thinking about having a family? Im confused, will Barry kill the Bolivians or not? Also Fuches thinks that Barry should kill his marine friend because he knows too much, now that's interesting. Gotta love how Barry pretends to have a moral code when it comes to killing. He is literally killing people for a living, there is no moral code in that. Wow Barry's feelings really got hurt when the rest of the class told him that if you kill you are basically a doomed human being and a psycho. Cousinaeu and the police lady? Now that's funny. Wait Barry has a son? The fight scenes with the Bolivians were pretty cool. Oh boy he didn't kill the marine guy, things just got complicated. Amazing episode overall, my rating is 9/10.

Chapter Five

Warning: Spoilers
There are always a few good laughs during the acting session scenes, but something is just off about this show. It doesn't quite have an identity, and I'm not sure what kind of finale they would be building up to.

Stephen Root's character isn't really delivering, which is kind of shocking given all of the great roles he has played on TV.
