Blown away
Prismark1013 September 2018
Another silly and melodramatic Lifetime movie. Jo Flay's mother is seriously ill and in need of a liver transplant. However as the mother is an alcoholic, she does not qualify for the transplant.

Jo gets irate that her mother would die and attacks one of the nurses in the hospital. She is soon arrested and imprisoned.

When she is released, she vows revenge on the people who refused to treat her mother.

Luckily for Jo her father was an ace arsonist who taught her things like how to make a light bulb give off a toxic gas and then explode.

The disturbed Jo goes on a murder spree with some deaths that are deviously constructed. She also befriends the teenage son of the hospital administrator as she plans to kill him.

Actress Carlena Britch who plays Jo has a bad hair day. If the producers spent some time working on the script , this could had been a passable film.

The film is made in such as plain, mundane manner. The film soon ends after the choppily edited climax. I guess they run out of money.

Average movie

This film is average so gets an average score but the line 'loose ends kill friends' made me lol. I'd probably give a lower score if it wasn't for that. The scene with the glass swapping made no sense either.

Abruptly ends
NovaBrunswick25 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
At the very end of the movie, it just fades to black without any epilogue or revealing the fate of the main character. Why the sudden ending?

The movie itself is good afternoon watching for when there isn't anything else to watch, and I did find the storyline kind of interesting if a bit farfetched: a girl's mother needs a liver transplant, but as she is an alcoholic, she doesn't qualify. As a result of her death, the girl goes berserk and kills several people who she thinks might have had a hand in her mother's death.

While the main protagonist (antagonist?) has obviously done something very evil, it would've been nice if the movie at least closed with her rotting in prison, or something.

Confusing

I don't know what garbage this was, I couldn't tell if the main character was a male or female. And the unlikeliness is surreal. For a lifetime movie this is at the very bottom of the bin.

This movie has very crappy acting. It just doesn't seem realistic. I just watched it because my boyfriend wanted to see it. I hated it.

This movie lifts the lid on America's privatized cost effective health system.
michaelt-4141516 February 2021
I wonder how many people lose relatives in America's hospitals because cost effectiveness is part parcel of America's privatized health system ?.

This question is at the heart of this movie for those who notice.??

This is all I have to say.

Dreams of Venezuela
lavatch17 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The best scene in "You Killed My Mother" is when Jo's boyfriend Bobby has sketched her portrait. It is a beautiful face with a smile a mile wide. For a moment, Jo is stunned because she could not believe that she could radiate such warmth. Her self-image was that of monster. But, for a moment in time, a new Jo had broken through her façade, then returned to her default mode of rage and revenge.

Jo's mother was a drunk, who was brought to the ER room with alcohol poisoning. But when Miriam, the head physician, would not authorize a new liver, the mother died. Jo attacked a nurse and was sent to a mental institution after the nurse filed charges. But she never forgave Miriam and now plans to retaliate by obliterating all that Miriam cherishes.

The film backtracks on Jo's past, which included an abusive father who taught her a set of diabolical methods of murdering people. The co-dependent Jo only received comfort from her mother in her rare moments of sobriety. After release from the nut house, Jo links up with her beau Jimmy, and the pair conspires to kill and rob a local hood, prior to their escape to Venezuela.

Jo defines her revenge plans as "housekeeping." But, every step of the way, she is disillusioned in her twisted notion of justice. One senses that if Jo ever made it to Venezuela, nothing would have changed. She experienced only one, brief and shining moment when she gazed on a picture of herself that was a mirror of what might have been for a young woman enmeshed in self-loathing.
