Based on a popular Telugu novel by teh same name , this is the story of a play boyish Rahman ( Raghu in Telugu ). His first film. He is a great find .He's apt for the role of a slothy carefree play boy living off his brother and going from conquest to conquest . He is hardly intersted in studies but is intelligent other wise . He chases girls and beds them and discards them once he has had his fill. Many girls come and go, Some are serious and sentimental but he does not settle down with just one . He is warned over and over again by his close friend Sudhakar and his man friday Sutti Velu but he does not listen to any one .
One such good girl is Sumalatha who genuinly belives and loves him. He chases her until she gives in with his false promises of marriage. When he ditches her too , heart broken she dies by suicide . His own sister is the target of another predator and commits suicide .This opens his eyes .
Slowly he realises his mistake and swears off women , starts repenting , comes to a small town to start working for the first time in his life and start earning his own money . He meets Tulasi and when she proposes marriage ( impressed by his silent attitude ) he agrees half heartedly . Finally he realises she is Sumalatha's sister. He tells the entire story to Tulasi who forgives him and they unite and live happily everafter . Rahman is perfect as a young drifter in and out of relations . Tall and lithe he is good as a rich spoilt boy. His transition from a carefree irresponsible youth to a mature guilt ridden adult is gradual . Tulasi and Sumalatha as middle class girls are aptly cast . They come in breezy cotton sarees . Sudhakar as the mature friend of Rahman invokes some emotions as his guardian and guide . Sutti Velu makes us laugh as usual. Over all ,a fine family fare .
