Interesting start, compared to the original film. Looks promising - thus far.

Well, so far so good. The cartoonish opening credit wasn't very promising, but the visuals and sets where excellent. The "event" that brings a tail forward is an interesting and clever way to start a series. The quaint introduction to the current main characters was done effectively, casting choices are decent. I'm sure more characters will be introduced in time. Looks promising thus far.

Good start!

I wish more tv shows and movies would include an animation sequence in order to tell a segment of the story more quickly and artistically. An anime sequence was part of the highlights in the classic film, 'Kill Bill Part 1, IMO.

I like the whole atmosphere and environment of this series. And I'm not bothered by the slow introduction to some of the characters.

So far, this is seems to be a very well written post apocalyptic scifi drama. And I can't wait for the next episode.

Promising start and not bad for a remake to the original movie.

(3.5 out of 5 stars).

Not bad for a remake to the original movie. About a over long train that travels around the globe. And each car on the train as there separate social class. Which is similiar to the movie. The animation in beginning showed a little more story to the apocalypse. The tail end of the train is slowly moving forward in a different way than the movie. The main character is travelling in a sub plot as a detective for the upper class. Which does have a little slow start. The visuals. The cast ensemble is good.

It was very strong beginning in this episode, idea seemed to be unique, not like all TV Series same over the same. In the middle and ending of first episode it didn't see they kept same quality, I liked only beginning of this episode so far.

Better than the movie
petewood-5995120 May 2020
I really like the movie. I love the series so far. It may yet disappoint, but I can't find a whole lot wrong with the first episode. The only reason I don't give this a ten is because of the choreographed fight scene that, in my opinion, drags the whole episode down. Something about it just seemed fake and out of sync with the rest of the story. Other than that, no complaints. I like the characters. I love the train. The story has sucked me in. What's not to love? Yeah, the science is complete nonsense. Basically this show is Supertrain with a science fiction twist. It didn't make sense then and it doesn't make sense now. But I don't care. Screw the science and enjoy the vision. Can't wait for episode 2.

[6.2] Nice trees!

Episode 1: Nothing of interest, real interest, average to nil acting, some bloody fights going to oblivion because of uncharismatic characters and so far just interesting for Jennifer Connelly and Alison Wright in it.

Pretty Good So Far

I loved the movie and having a series is a pretty interesting concept i was not really expecting, I do wish all the episodes came out at once instead of each week since i like to binge shows but hey, good for suspense i guess?

Not bad at all

I watched this without having seen the film or anything. Clean slate.

Suspension of disbelief: is it realistic, a train with 1001 cars? An ecosystem contained within the train? Humans divided into classes?

Hm sounds more realistic the more I think about it.

But watching this first episode is much better witout critical thinking. It is great drama. And action

Yes, I like it.

A horribly edited mess
Kizeesh25 May 2020
To begin this, I'd like to point out that I have not yet watched the original film Snowpiercer, nor have I read Transpierceneige the comic that both film & show are based upon. Thus I have no predisposition to base it upon.

This episode was awful. A hodgepodge of ideas and clumsy exposition. The median shot length was about 1 second with countless cuts, jarring continuity and tonal jumps, and no sense of scene to scene pacing. Has every indication of an episode that has been butchered down and reshot and recut to death in order to get across the most information to the audience in the quickest, not the best, way possible.

As a result the show feels like a bad Syfy channel special, despite a clear high budget and great actors. But the direction is poor, the cinematography jumps from decent to terrible every few seconds (presumably when it cuts from principle photography to 2nd unit reshoots) and lead actor looks goofy and mucks about like he's in a kids show.

I've heard the film is good. This is not.

First, the Weather Changed

Warning: Spoilers
An empty and unevoking experience. There's no mystery because it's based on the film. Characterization's weak to say the least. It has Jennifer Connelly, that's about it.

loved the movie waited a lot for the series and this is what we get... -spoiler alert
imdbmoviereviews7 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So right on episode one we get a good intro into what's going on but then we see some radical changes... such as one of the movie's best charcers killing him self... for example... a important charcter filling the story with meaning and deepening the philospoical question of balance and order vs equality.... death early on... then we see some more pendaring to the pc left (but ok not as horrible yet as u might think...)

and again we see radical changes to the story with for example the classic sci fi sleep.... - i can't say i'm gainst it but it's a huge change to the movie

over all not horrible i'll continue watching and score the series appropriatly - i do suggest u watch even if you'r reading this the score of 5 is only to the episode not the series

WHY oh WHY oh WHY was this made?
koohii26 January 2021
So, the original comic book did not make much sense. The movie that was made was bloody frickin' terrible. Who looks at 2 failed attempts to make an idiotic story and says "All right, I'll have a go?" And the result? An even more disjointed mess. And they're planning on making more episodes?

The better question than "why was this made" is "Why in hell would anyone want to watch this?" I know we're mostly stuck in our homes, but really? You can't find anything else to watch? Anything at all? How about stare at a blank wall? Or talk to a 5-yo about dolls or action figures? That's bound to be better entertainment.
