Members of the audience are featured in the soap opera spoof The Edge of Wetness. Aaron Rudnicki, a 5-year-old pool prodigy, is introduced with his father Tony and talks about becoming an expert pool player; for a while, Johnny has a hard time getting more than monosyllabic responses from him. However, he gradually starts to talk more about his achievements, including beating the legendary Minnesota Fats three times in a row. Afterward, he demonstrates various difficult shots for Johnny, as well as a few trick shots. Johnny also tries a few shots, with not much success. Danny Thomas comes out and begins by imitating the boy's simple "yes" and "no" replies, delivered in quiet deadpan style. He then tells a few golf stories, including playing with former President Ford. Afterward he tells a few jokes - one about a nun at a hospital, and another about a minister giving a speech which is later reported to his wife; then he discusses and tells an old joke about a man borrowing a lawnmower, which in various forms has had Irish and Jewish characters. Finally, Thomas discusses the upcoming telethon for the St. Jude Children's Hospital, and talks about how close they are to curing one form of childhood leukemia. Paul Dickson discusses his book "The Official Rules", a compilation of various slogans and mottos which offer simple advice about life, beginning with the well-known Murphy's Law. He and Johnny discuss many of the items, and recall various other maxims.
