Two of the character names in this story are shout-outs to the original series (at least in part). First, Don's late co-pilot is named Tam. Tam Robinson was one of the Robinson children (Tim & Tam) in the comic book series Space Family Robinson which the original series was inspired by, if not based on. (Their names were changed to Will and Penny for the series). Second, the injured pilot that Don finds on the planet is named Angela - an obvious salute to Angela Cartwright, who played Penny Robinson in the original series.
