Best episode of the series and great cliff hanger. Intense with great fight scene. The Morse code thing was hilarious. Some philosophical dialog in this one by Dr Smith & John Robinson. There is this scene with Don and John and trying to cry was great. I won't spoil any of it Enjoy. Don't listen to the low scores this is great reboot. If you want the original which is very good go watch it. They have created a new exciting and character driven series with an incredible new robot and I hope many more seasons of adventures and species & twists to experience with the Robinson's.
Here are some of my observations about characters:
Maureen - Strong leader great mom and very smart & resourceful
John - Regretful for mistakes as dad and husband; strong courageous
Will - Smart caring boy with a robot friend & a big heart
Judy - medic with some PTSD but rises to the occasion and loves her family and a little stiff, but lets go when encouraged enough; protector
Penny - Glue and fun loving smart 'go for it' and enjoys life and her family; witty and good sense of humor
Don - Loves Scotch, emotional orphan, desires money, attitude but very loyal despite himself, engineer J2, dry humor
Dr Smith - survivalist at all cost, manipulative to extreme, always scheming
Robot - friend and protector of Will Robinson

"Lost In Space" saves it's best episode for last with a season finale that delivers some surprises and though it teased an idea that I thought they might be going for (that somehow they'd stay in space long enough to land on the planet again on the other side of the cataclysmic event) in the end there was a completely different outcome and one that has me interested in what might be coming in the second season.
It's The Robinson Family We Deserve

All ten episodes have been a kind of tightrope walk, threatening any time to fall into the dumb conventions of the original series. And they've managed to mostly avoid being campy or using lazy plotting. The writers have taken care to put a ticking clock and ratchet the tension and keep the twists coming; the characters are complicated enough to have real motivations and be believable. ESPECIALLY DOCTOR SMITH. The the family in the original series would sensibly have thrown that guy off the ship by episode three for their own survival. Here they are at least smart enough to know she's very, very dangerous and to keep her in check.
By the way, special kudos to Parker Posey who manages to make Smith funny and terrifying at the same time. And to her credit, more terrifying than funny.
My only complaint with this compulsively watchable 10 hours of TV is the score is a little intrusive now and then, and they might have been a little too ruthless with those ticking clocks and twists. Now and then maybe those poor humans could catch a break maybe? And also, the technology (and brand names!) seem a little out of place; this is a future with interstellar travel, maybe by then Oreo would have updated their logos or packaging or something?
You could say the whole thing is unnecessary, and instead of rebooting an embarrassing old TV show just come up with a similar new one. I say, let's make things right. Looking forward to the next season.

Now We Are Ready to Begin

Satisfying, exciting, and had plenty of heart. Even with the technological missteps, practical inconsistencies, and all-to-accepted Dr. Smith manipulations, the first season of Lost in Space paid off with a satisfying, exciting, and very watchable episode. Of course, for every story which completed its arc, we have plenty of still-unanswered questions, but it felt worth the ride once the credits rolled, and in retrospect it appears that the purpose of season one was a complicated true beginning for the Robinson family (in many different ways).
For the season, Maxwell Jenkins shone brighter than his fellow cast members with an emotional sincerity and maturity beyond his years; just a pleasure to watch. Ignacio Serricchio comes in a close second with his domination of the screen every time he appeared with a show of heart behind the comedy and snarky elements written for his character. Taylor Russell and Toby Stephens tie for third as they are actually two versions of the same character; both performed with a depth of humanity that helped keep the science fiction series grounded in emotional reality. Very much looking forward to future Robinson family performances from all four should Netflix bless us with a season 2 - I am hoping that they do.

A decent first series

Warning: Spoilers
Yes I can see many were disappointed and only awarded one star but I enjoyed it.
To be honest having watched all 10 episodes over 2 days I feel as though I was watching just a prologue to the real adventures. Now I'm not sure if it will be picked up for second series but if it is it will have to improve.
I liked the cast but felt that Toby Stephens was a bit bland and has to be more assertive. Also I wasn't at all struck by the rearrangement of Johnny William's original score or the background music in the series as a whole.
I would like to hear more of the original music being used - it was so atmospheric and melodic. 'Mother and Daughter' 'The Chariot theme' 'My friend Mr Nobody' Why not use music that I feel would be difficult to improve upon?
I also liked Parker Posey as you just cannot replace Jonathan Harris. He made the character uniquely his and anybody trying to do an impersonation or likeness wouldn't have worked. However her character needs work and some 'evil' wit has to be brought into her lines. Nice of the production team to give her a 'real' name of June Harris.
So the Robinsons are now somewhere near the Robot's planet. Let's hope for some colourful adventures with some original foes. Unfortunately the giant lizards and bats were terribly derivative - so the writers need to put their thinking caps on and come up something better - but hopefully not space wizards and department store owners.
Quick point - the original series used to share props with batman (the computer) and here they were in a batcave.

I expected more from Netflix, but over all the series was good.

So i don't know if it's okay to say this , but i kinda got tricked into watching this in the first place , as i thought that actor "John Robinson" is Michael Fassbender !!! lol ,, seriously with that short hair he just looked a twin of Michael .. nevertheless , the guy "Toby Stephens" was really good actor, and he did an amazing job , and that "June Harris" Oh man, I hated her, which only means she was really good at her role , the whole cast did good,, well, of course apart from the kid "Will Robinson" like oh my goodness,, he's over doing it, like just tune it down a notch man !! you're not the lead in here.
Anyway,, the series as i said was good,, it did not rise to the usual Original Netflix level of thrill or even Sci-Fi ,, but still the plot had just a little hint of originality and the writers did a fine job using that ,, in some parts in went slow but again ,, in general it all leveled up.
Final thought, the ending was good, open and somewhat scary .. don't know yet if the series got renewed , but if it did i think they need to work more on the Sci-Fi ,, which in my opinion define the genre of the show,, the other minor parts of the genre, the drama , the action , adventure , it was fine .. and yeah ,, just lose the kid , or someone tell him to tune down the fake unnecessary overly excessive emotions.

"Hey, robot, I made you kill yourself, but now I'm going to pout because you won't play catch with me!" Instead of Will's friend and companion, they made this robot Will's pet!
Silly to the end. I'm a sci fi junkie, but I won't return if there's a season two. Too frustrating to watch, when the scripts are full of the writers' blatant political messages. (Maybe if they fired the current writers, and hired early teens with unpolluted imaginations, instead?)
***and, they still call her "Dr. Smith" when everyone knows she's not?! lol

Ah, those robots ... Let see their creators !
pkpera18 April 2018
When it should all be about rescuing from endangered planet, and join Resolute, it appeared that robot demands main role in events, again. For worse, that was pretty much predictable, with really forced climax. And Maureen acted in that attack really like no normal person would do.
Yes, going to their World, which is also endangered (Danger, Will Robinson) is good idea. And Robinsons are qualified in that area - dying planets. But I really can not expect that it will be some intellectual Sci-Fi there. Only chance that it will be enjoyable are visuals. Lets hope that team for it will deliver.
Total rubbish

Utterly unrealistic

Warning: Spoilers
This show is great but the fact that they're walking around in space on their ship without any safeguard like a carabiner is impossible! No one would ever do that! And why put a manual crank for the hatch outside? Isn't that stupid?
While I'm at it, I thought Dr. Smith/June Harris had way too much luck than real life would actually provide throughout the season. She couldn't really predict with accuracy how strangers or the robot would react to her schemes, especially in such a foreign and dangerous environment. Yet, everything went *exactly* like she wanted.

1st off I liked the movie with Gary oldman he made a great dr Smith, the dr smith (or not dr smith) in this movie was boring and kinda ruined it was praying for her to be killed off and then introduce the real dr smith and have someone more sinister,a lot of the episodes sent me to sleep I was waiting for the action but instead got life lessons courtesy of the space family Robinson if there's a season 2 actually have something like the original where they end up on different planets, instead of loadsa people stranded on a planet,it's called "lost in space" not im a b list actor get me outta here
Pathetic
